do you honestly expect him to say anything different? he's in damage control mode via his legal team. he's doing what he can to make himself look good so he doesn't get suspended for too many games this season.

how about the burden the other family has of not having their family member around? my cousin was killed by a hit & run drunk driver - my aunt & uncle will NEVER be the same!

when will people realize that a vehicle is a weapon when an impaired driver is at the wheel?

sorry but it hits home for me on so many levels - i have no empathy nor sympathy for people who choose to drive drunk.

Yep.

Stallworth WANTED to kill that guy. Which is why he CHOSE to drink himself dumb. Why he CHOSE to climb in a vehicle. And why he CHOSE to hit that poor pedestrian.

While I completely agree with how you feel (I lost BOTH grandparents to drunk drivers, two separate accidents), I refuse to carry the weight of shaming the 'killers'. I know the intention wasn't there, and I know there is a grieving period.. But I also know the torment one has when involuntarily killing someone (my wife has gone, and continues to go through that).

People, we have to keep this in mind: 'To err is human. To forgive is Divine'

i'm truly curious now since you mention your wife going thru something. i'm not being a smart ass or trying to start something with you here - just always interesting to hear the flip side of the situation.

the facts show he voluntarily drank to excess, voluntarily got behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level that exceeds the legal limit in that state, & killed someone.

as far as forgiveness - it's not up to me to forgive Stallworth - that's God's job.

She was involved in an auto accident, of which was not her fault, that killed someone. She had just gotten her license, maybe 12 months prior to the accident. Needless to say, she'll never forget that for as long as she lives. And even though it's not her fault, she still carried that burden.

You are correct. I definitely am not disputing that. lol I guess I'm blessed in a way that I've seen both sides, while most have only seen one. I'm not trying to take any of the responsibility away from Stallworth's decision making, that's for sure.

ok formo. thanks for sharing that very personal story - helps me better understand your viewpoint for sure. i'm sure it's a pain that never goes away for your wife & i'm glad she has you to help her through the tougher times.

i'm not condemning him - i hate the behavior - plain & simple.

I don't doubt that he feels awful and that he will never get over it. There are many people who are carrying that around, and I feel sorry for them. Carrying guilt and shame feels awful. However, most of the people who have gone through situations similar to what Stalworth is going through are doing it, or have done it, in prison. I'm not so disgusted with Stalworth here but with the elected officials who take it upon themselves to legislate from the bench, creating new and different rules at their whim.

I wonder what extenuating circumstances led to this verdict. Has this set a precedent for intoxicated drivers? Or has his verdict followed the precedent set forth previously?

Probably the fact that he has/had butt-tons of money and was able to pay the victims' family a nice 'I'm sorry' package.

That shouldn't have anything to do with the jury's/judge's verdict, but only on the victim suing Stallworth in a civil case (and probably likely that the victims could receive damages given the preponderance of the evidence). The criminal matter of manslaughter is (hopefully) independent of that.

Unfortunately, the more money you have, the more you can "buy" your way out of.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
