I have the same question. Exactly what pleasure do you get out of smoking cigarettes? If I even get one, the buzz I get from a cigarette is so fleeting that it's not worth the cash outlay. At least when I smoke tobacco on a hookah, the buzz (which is a lot more intense) lasts for several minutes. The buzz from cigars lasts longer too, but I don't like the dirty feeling I get from cigars or cigarettes. It sometimes lasts for hours.

But even though I don't understand what you guys get out of cigarettes, it still cheeses me off that the government wants to make this pleasure prohibitively expensive and difficult for you to obtain.

It was before your time.

Not a Nick. He isn't fully qualified. He had a UH-1 to do the hauling for him.

Look for the guy that's drunk and smoking Marlboro lights.

Say, "Hey a guy I know said you would know what a leather Cadillac looks like...He also said that the top three things you hate are wind, weight and corrosion...look at this pic--is he nuts, or what?"

Try it. The answer will be intriguing.

I don't smoke, but I know people who do. For one, it curbs appetites. This works really good with diets. Yes, TODAY you have supplements which can do that, but back in the 70s and 80s, you didn't. Also, most of the cool kids were doing it.

You ask, "Why can't you leave it then?"

Nicotine

This stuff can be very addictive after 5 smokes. It's a bit like Coca-Cola, it's not good for you, it can burn your throat, but it's addicting. You have "Nicotine Patches", but all those do is hit nicotine in your blood stream, so it's not like you put it on and BOOM! It's cured! It's still very hard. Now, it's not as bad as heroine or those things, but it's still pretty bad.

Oh, did I also mention that cigarettes calm you down? Well, at least they do for people who are addicted to smokes due to the fact they long for their nicotine... and once they receive it, they calm.

Interesting you should say this. One of the reasons why I asked my question is that I've smoked many more than 5 times and I've never developed any sort of craving for the stuff.

It can depend on multiple things: Your stress level when taking them, why you used them, what type they were, and how quick your mind can leave the addiction. Some people it's easier then others.

Jobs ... or lives? Let's take a second to think about that ...

"SlickVision" wrote:

Both slick because if they don't have a job that effects their lives 😛 Don't get me wrong i understanding having no smoking places but to have it so there is no place for a person to smoke is just stupid and actually very discriminating in my mind.

Philip Morris International employs more than 75,000 people worldwide. Thats just at one ciggy company now add in the farmers, truck drivers, and stores. Thats alot of people effected by these bans.

I ask you what is more deadly? Ciggy smoke or exhaust from a car or truck?

"dhazer" wrote:

This is America! We need to be more damn creative and innovative to create jobs. Not continue manufacturing cancer sticks to provide jobs. I know cigs are in other countries too before some jerk tries to redirect this convo to that.

Those who lose their jobs from not making cigarettes will have to find other avenues. Who knows? Maybe start their own business? Maybe some of those cig workers are extremely talented in other areas and could invent thigns or who knows?

Point is, you don't keep something around that is killing people for the pure sake of jobs. That's stupid in my opinion.

Man up, find a new way to create revenue for yourself.

"SlickVision" wrote:

Car exhaust kills people, alcohol kills people, i guess we should get rid of all of that stuff also with the way your thinking Zero. I respect you don't smoke but why punish the people that do. My grandmother has never driven a day in her life but she walks everywhere and inhales all that exhaust from cars. Its just another thing that has gone wrong with this country we have no constitutional rights anymore because hell we don't have a constitution left.

Both my Grandpas smoked like chimneys and drank. They lived to 86 and 87.
My Dad and Mom smoked.........both quit........and my Dad died at 44 my Mom at 59.
Fact is, we ALL are going to die at some time. Now i'm not saying it's good to smoke. It's also not good to eat junk food, or to play sports where you can get hurt. What is going to be outlawed next for "our own good"?

Dulak.............how many people feed their kids junk food, like Twinkies for example? Thats affecting the KIDS lives, right?
As far as "second hand smoke", just don't do business at places that allow smoking if it bothers you that much.
There. End of problem.
WHY do we need LAWS to do this?
I have asthma, so believe me, i don't like smoking. So i do not go to places where it's bad enough to affect me. MY money does my talking for me.
Unless they outlaw any tobacco products, these laws are not necessary, are they?
There are enough non smoking places to go to already. And those were by the CHOICE of the owner of the business. NOT needed to make "laws" for this in my view.
I am against smoking......it is bad for you. But it's up to the individual to decide in my view. If you want to take a chance on how it MIGHT hurt you, it's your own business.
And if you own a business, it SHOULD be your choice to allow or disallow smoking.

I completely disagree. Smoking isn't mainly bad for the smoker, its actually WORSE for those inhaling the second hand smoke. Also, I can't recall there ever being a link between Twinkies and cancer.

That's silly, if that were the case then I'd have so many "cancers and such" it wouldn't be funny. Second hand smoking isn't proven. You don't inhale the smoke in one big puff to your lungs. A couple of hours of smelling smoke WONT kill you.

Actually, they're punishing us who do not wish to inhale 12 different kinds of tar and carcinogenics or whatever by smoking at their own leisure wherever they want.

I'm all for this ban and the sooner cigarettes are gone, the better. And if a few employees have their toes stepped on, then, as they say, tough titties. I want my health, and I do not tolerate those who risk my life for their own guilty pleasures, and I especially don't tolerate the business ethics of tobacco companies.

well quit driving your car also 😛 the toxins from car exhaust is far deadlier than cig smoke. But i guess when you say a few million employees can handle their toes stepped on means you are heartless. George Burns smoked all the time and he lived to be what 100 yrs. I guess we should stop all welding jobs to because if you ever welded you know that smoke is terrible. But i understand your just trying to protect my legacy engineer lol 😛

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
