I think that the ego tag is attached by fans that confuse it with commitment to his plan. I truly believe he has the team's best interest at heart and he knows that there will be tough decisions but non more tough than what went on last off season. IMO he passed that test with flying colors.

Not once did he bad mouth BF or denigrate his career with the Packers. IMO he saw what could be accomplished if Favre committed to the ENTIRE season in 07, not just training camp and beyond. I think Favre's inability to commit going into 08, wanting to wait for camp and then show up, was the proverbial straw and I applaud him for sticking to his guns and moving on as well as getting something in return for a player who "didn't think he wanted to anymore".

I went back and watched some of the GVS interview and what I saw was a man with a chip who felt he was treated below his station which in my mind means he put himself above the organization. Classy that is not.

I still do not see where he was lied to by Thompson.

With all the talk of Brett Favre coming out of retirement again, the reality is that 99 percent of players do not get to retire; their teams retire them. Even recent superstars such as Derrick Brooks, Marvin Harrison, Rodney Harrison, Chris McAlister, Deuce McAllister, Shaun Alexander and Warrick Dunn would love to un-retire as Brett might do; they just dont appear to have anyone interested in un-retiring them.

Andrew Brandt said that.

99 out of a hundred.

Lots of egotistical GM's out there, apparently.

Records of Ted Thompson's involvement in bringing Brett Favre to Green Bay were fabricated by Satan and inserted into the organization's history to lead fans astray from the holy light of Favre.

Crisis averted. Whew!

Misremembered

Everyone had a good laugh at Roger Clemens when he recently said (at the congressional hearing about steroid use) that Andy Pettitte had misremembered since we all know that misremembered is obviously not a word. While I agree with those who believe that it is not a word, its an interesting case about the grey area of language and communication.

Nearly every word that has been used with any regularity appears in some dictionary somewhere because dictionaries are a typically a reflection of current usage, not of proper grammar. In other words, commonly used non-words usually appear in dictionaries and are then accepted into language as words by much of the population because theyre in the dictionary. The problem is that not everyone agrees that common usage is reason enough to declare a former non-word to be a legitimate word, and debate about the legitimacy might go on for generations.

Thats how the word drug has started to be accepted as the past tense of the word drag by some of us. (The correct past tense is draggedlook for a post from Sherry on this word soon.)

Its the same with the word misremembered. It does appear in the occasional dictionary, but does that make it an acceptable word? Misremembered appears in these dictionaries not because of common usage, however; it appears there because of the belief that the prefix mis- can be added to nearly any root word to make a new word. Personally, I dont believe that to be the case with misremembered; the result is an awkward, ineffective non-word that should be avoided.

That is my opinion, and if anyone wants to make the argument that its an acceptable word because it shows up in the odd dictionary, then he should misremember things to his hearts content.

Just dont misremember this: Good communication skills are more important than whether you can make an argument for using an awkward word. Its about how to effectively express yourself, which aint gonna be happening with bad word picking.
