If you go back to '05 and '06, you can find examples of tension between Ted Thompson and Brett Favre in the media.

In fact, I believe that their relationship was strained from the start because Thompson didn't really want Favre around while he was rebuilding the team, or at least, was not going to improve the team immediately by dipping into free agency. In fact, Ted went the opposite route by signing terrible street free agennts the first year or two.

I'm sure Favre felt that if Ted would have done something more in FA in '07 and '08, the Packers could have won it all. I think not getting Randy Moss was the kicker for Favre, but to think that that's all it was is being naive, in my book.

While you continue to avoid my excellent point about you giving Brett an excuse for his last five games due to injury and ridicule Rodgers even though he played a dozen or so games while his shoulder was injured, how about you do some research and provide us the links? We'd all appreciate it greatly.

I love it!!

A guy with such power can do stuff to piss off just ONE player and in the process takes the chance that he does so bad he ruins said team for years

Or maybe the board and pres did tell him go and try to force Brett out

What you can't seem to wrap your head around is that Brett Favre was an employee. He wasn't the general manager. It wasn't his job to tell the general manager what to do. If he held a grudge against Ted Thompson because the GM wouldn't kowtow to his preferences, that just shows a serious personality flaw and maturity deficit on his own part. It's certainly not an indictment of Ted Thompson.

If Brett Favre really does have the authority issues you seem to think he does, then I'm glad he was shown to the door.

I think that Brett realized that Ted was not the God-like figure that you all make him out to be , and realized he could use some help in the GM'ing Department. Yet he found out that the egotistical, removed, arrogant Thompson wasn't open to suggestion.

It was then that Favre realized that the Packers were going nowhere.

That is my belief.

Since you commented, now he'll freaking dodge MY point, AGAIN. Argh ... I like pie.

As per the Boss not being open to suggestions. I think he is and was. What was he going to tell blabber mouth Brett? "Ok ... thank you Brett, I'll do what I can to land him". Then when someone asks Brett, what's Brett going to say? He's going to give it away, everyone EVERYONE knows this. So Ted had to play it coy with him. If word got out that the Packers wanted Moss badly, it drives up the price. I thought that was common logic or ... I'm missing something.

It's called "having different philosophies". I'm sure Brett wouldn't have gone to the media if he felt that he could trust Ted Thompson. I bet Elway would have felt the same way at the end of his career if they fired Shanahan and hired somebody new who wanted to rebuild the Broncos.

Yes, I will give Rodgers props here for gutting it out with a shoulder injury, but they were different injuries, so can you really compare them? Also, BF had a better record than Aaron Rodgers with that injury, so there you go. Also, how many times has Brett played with an injury in the past and won ball games? That's the difference--wins.

I really don't think that some of you see this as a two-sided issue.

I have to give you props.. you are persistent.

But whom is not seeing that it has two sides?

Most everyone here attributes blame to both sides of the fence.. Packer management and Brett... Can you honestly claim the same?

blind faith = stupidity.

edit: i should have clarified, blind faith in a football player and/or general manager = stupidity. no one & i mean NO ONE is above reproach.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
