Favre was injured.

Rodgers lost a couple of games by himself last year by throwing game ending picks.

Rodgers isn't as good at reading defenses as Brett is, and he holds on to the ball too long. Not good signs for a QB if he doesn't get better at making decisions when the pressure is on.

He also hasn't led his team back for a win at the end of the game either.

Vikings LB Ben Leber on Brett Favre:

"Favre, in Leber's mind, still is a legit player.

"Well, he's extremely tough. He's savvy," Leber said.

In fact, Leber said, Favre is so good at reading defenses that he would laugh at the Vikings when they faked blitzes in past seasons.

"He knew we weren't blitzing, and he knew what we were doing," Leber said. "So, from that aspect, it was kind of disheartening."

Leber also highlighted Favre's pocket presence, and his "natural leadership."

But yeah, it was Favre's "stamina". ok.

Before you start on this tirade.. I nor the article claimed it was Brett's "Fault".

Just looking at the numbers year after year shows a drop in production and efficiency. Almost startling drop at that.. we all age.. it is part of being mortal.. only one other QB that I have seen personally played at the same level as Favre does at 40.. Warren Moon.

Reading defenses mainly comes with experience. Something that Favre has tons off. Just go back and look at his early games, he doesn't always see the blitz coming either. Rodgers may never get as good as Favre, but still, you can hardly make an issue out of that with a first year starter that had a season like this.

Rodgers lost a couple of games by himself last year by throwing game ending picks.

You actually just used that to support Favre in this argument?

PS. I think that a lot of people here still love Favre, but the way some of the people praise him here, you kind off push them into a pessimistic corner, which is actually more of a realistic corner. Same goes for me. I watched the Jets games last year when the Packers wheren't on, but you bring him up like some kind of god. It's hard to stay positive this way.

So you can exonerate Favre's late season collapse due to injury, but you mention nothing about the injury that Rodgers played with for I think a dozen games? Who still put up equal if not better stats?

I think that psychologically Rock, some Packer fans want to believe the talking points that Favre has lost it because it somehow fits, or softens the blow about what Green Bay did to Favre.

I just happen to disagree. That's all.

"About what Green Bay did to Favre."

The poor man who's received blind adulation, a quarter of a billion dollars and a pass on every mistake he's ever made.

Yeah, what a victim.

I am a guy that still cherishes what Brett did for us as a franchise... but I seriously can't understand "what" Green Bay did to Brett?

Didn't get Moss for him? Is that really the crime here?

errr... OldMan... come on seriously what did Green Bay do to Brett? Over the years the Packers gave to almost every Brett request.. the fans adored him.. so one deal that fell apart is worthy of his hatred?

I agree. I'm boycotting this conversation. It's a swirling maelstrom into an endless cesspool of illogic.

If you go back to '05 and '06, you can find examples of tension between Ted Thompson and Brett Favre in the media.

In fact, I believe that their relationship was strained from the start because Thompson didn't really want Favre around while he was rebuilding the team, or at least, was not going to improve the team immediately by dipping into free agency. In fact, Ted went the opposite route by signing terrible street free agennts the first year or two.

I'm sure Favre felt that if Ted would have done something more in FA in '07 and '08, the Packers could have won it all. I think not getting Randy Moss was the kicker for Favre, but to think that that's all it was is being naive, in my book.
