All awards cost the team owner money. They are a talking point and a negotiating chip for the agent, be it for a player or a coach. Now, I don't care about 31 team's owners, but I do care about this team"s owners, being one of them, so someone explain to me why it is to my advantage for some player or coach on my team to get one of these awards. They display the trophy or whatever they get in the atrium or wherever, and for that I get to watch the player or coach become the progenitor of a raised ticket price, a reduction in cap room in the case of a player, and probably more expensive hot dogs, brats and beer in both cases. Does Matt deserve consideration as coach of the year? Absolutely
Should have won it already.
But when contract negotiation time comes, my story is something along the lines of, "Well, he couldn't even win coach of the year...afterall, he had Rodgers and Love"
