Mike Holmgren
Mike Shanahan
Bill Cowher

All three appear to be available for 2010. If we miss the playoffs or have a .500 or worse record. I say we fire McCarthy and bring on any one of those three.

I don't think Cowher is a WCO coach, but the other two I don't mind.

But are we prepared for, possibly, a 3 year transition period over which the current coaches could be replaced, and our philosophy changed? Could we absorb the impact of replacing our ZBS lineman? Sitton and Spitz are a step in the right direction but many of the other faces could be changed. We may lose Capers and the 3-4 defense if the new coach wants his own defensive staff. We'll also have to pay a significant salary for these big name coaches.

3 years to improve or three more years of this steady 'cleaning up the mess' bullshit line from our coach?

I don't really put much stock into what coaches have to say, but what they do. It's a worry that offensive fundamentals have plagued us for about a year now, but no question McCarthy has put this team in a positive direction since taking over from Cap Hell Sherman. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet, because I think the players are as much to blame as the coach. We'll see whether McCarthy can wring out the best out of his players this season. I believe him when he says he has trouble sleeping after poor games because I do think he tries.

It's not simply what he says. It's how he goes about his business. He tells the media the same thing and we see the same results on the field.

'07 it was okay cuz we were getting lucky bounces our way
'08 it sucked cuz we didnt get any lucky bounce
'09 same shit, different day, same shitty ass undiscplined team on the field with no urgency whats so ever.

We went from 8 - 8 to 13 - 3 to 6 - 10 and it sure as hell doesn't look promising. The season's far from determined or over, that's certain. I'm saying, if it's another piss poor year, it's time to move on. We need improvement, not regression with the same bullshit stories over and over again.

This quote is so true.

I'm not a fan of Childress. I know VR isn't. I, personally, hate that him and Bevell tend to suck at playcalling. This year may be different. But it may not be. We'll see. Chilly as the person I like. As my HC, I don't.

But, the fact remains, every year since the 'Chilly Regime' took over, the Vikings have steadily improved their season record by 2 wins per year. 6-10, 8-8, 10-6. And looking at the team now, he's managed to assemble possibly the most talented team in Vikings history. At least in my lifetime. Now, I know talent doesn't win any championships. But it certainly helps. If I had my way, I'd keep Chilly on as a GM type guy, but then hire a HC with some rocks that will implement plays that work with players talents, not catered to any one single system.

If thats what it takes to get rid of the zone blocking stuff and to keep our QB healthy ... Im all for it.

AR has had 10 sacks in the last 2 games. I watched the MN and ARZ game this past week and I saw how 2 older QBs got sacked a minimal amount of times even thou they were getting alot of pressure.

I saw how those QBs were able to dump it off to a RB, TE, WR quickly to get rid of the ball and make positive yards (rather then negative yards and a sore back).

- I know jack about football compared to what NFL coaches should know -
but it shouldnt take 2 weeks for a NFL coach to figure out the same thing.
McCarthy and Philbin have admitted in the days following the Bengals game that they may have given the line too much help.

Just like rodgers said we need more check downs.

Martha Careful (17h) : Yes, in the military S2’s work on IPB, PERCEC, PHYSEC and IO
dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care

Martha Careful (27-Apr) : apparently he did not participate in practice or play on the east west shrine game nor the NFL combine. The kid was a mediocre spoiled brat
