A year after the Packers stuck it to quarterback Aaron Rodgers by drafting quarterback Jordan Love, Rodgers stuck it to the Packers.

As Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported at the time, Rodgers wanted the team to fire G.M. Brian Gutekunst. The report was never debunked, and for good reason.

It was accurate.

A new report from Matt Schneidman of TheAtheltic.com re-reports that Rodgers wanted the Packers to fire Gutekunst. And Rodgers, who spoke on the record to Schneidman about various matters on which we’ll likely be posting later, did not deny it.

Instead, Rodgers referred Schneidman to agent David Dunn. And Dunn did not respond to inquiries from Schneidman.

So, yeah, Robinson’s report from 2021 was true. Rodgers made a power play aimed at getting Gutekunst fired. And it didn’t work.

Two season later, Rodgers got the trade the team wouldn’t give him in 2021.

The inescapable message to Jets G.M. Joe Douglas? It would be wise to tiptoe carefully around the delicate genius.

Generally, I'm not someone who believe something is true simply because it's not denied. However, Rodgers went hard to deny somethings, but this claim he simply referred Matt to his Agent, David Dunn. That makes me kind of think there's some truth behind it. And Rodgers can do some word gymnastics by simply saying he did not ask for Brian to get fired, and it's not a lie. Because it was his agent. 🤦‍♂️

I'd hardly call paying Rodgers 50 million dollars is "sticking" it to him.

And I wouldn't put it past Rodgers to want to get a GM that DARED to draft a QB fired. And he didn't get his way, so he pouted, took his ball and went home.
JMO of course.

I look at Aaron as responsible for thst stunt on draft day too. Starting his own trade rumor about the Broncos.

I did a quick interGoogle search and this headline kind of adds to that thinking. However, I do recall Mark Schlereth saying days/weeks before draft that Rodger → Broncos "done deal", so I could be mistaken. I just think draft day it was 49ers. Your point doesn't change though.

I wonder if Mark Murphy asked ... why should I fire Brian Gutekunst? Who should I hire to replace him? That could be entertaining the notion to fire the GM and a sign of lacking confidence.

I think I would have asked just for the pure curiosity. Why is my GM deserving of being fired? What is he doing that I might not be aware of? That kind of thing.

On the field Rodgers, IN HIS PRIME, may have had no equal. Off the field he became more and more of a tool over the years. It became more about him and what could the organization do for him. What could the NFL and the CBA do to recognize his elite status. I personally didn't care if he took the jab or not but my kids and many others lost their minds over his evasive word play. After that I began to notice how often he would choose words carefully so as to sound one way but mean another.

And what happened was the Vikings Radio announcer leaked the story and then the reporters rushed to cover it.

You want a juicy rumor? You’re getting one. It’s believed that the 49ers offered the No. 3 overall pick, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, other players, plus draft picks to the Green Bay Packers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Bill Michaels started the fire, attributing the report to Paul Allen of KFAN, with confirmation from others.

Why should we do that? (Whatever it is that they've trying to get you to do) and Whom would you suggest we replace him with? (As they'll probably have no answer as they aren't ready for that... but also if they do suggest someone, you can then look into that person, and decide if you might be interested in that new name suggested, or if you might want to completely avoid them as they might be listening to outsiders)
