You can't say all the playoff losses were on rodgers. Remember that game vs Tampa? How about kicking a field goal instead of going for it? I do agree that he didn't look good last season.

You are right though. Aaron Rodgers did not lose the game, however, when you're the NFL MVP, you should be the reason why your team won. And he wasn't.  And that is a problem.

Yep. Every year I post 17-0 (or 16-0 or 19-0in the old days.) It eans nothing this time of the year. It means nothing suring training camp. It means nothing during preseason.

Here's a news flash--- Write this down you wont want to forget it.

READY???

IT MEANS NOTHING DURING THE SEAON EITHER.

What I say or think or what any fan says or thinks means nothing. Nothing at all. It is only killing a few minutes or hours out of our day. It's nothing. The Packers don't play better or worse because of the brilliance of fan logic. It doesn't bring about world peace of end global warming (Or cooling. I forget which one are we worried about this week?)

I'm not interested in being pigeon-holed into being considered an optimistic or pessimistic fan. I just want to hang out and chat when I can find the time.

There are a lot of things that are slightly more important to me than how we think the Packer are going to perform this year. Today (And every day this week) I take my wife back for another radiation treatment. On Friday we go for yet another chemo treatment.

But by all means, fan how you want to fan. I'm fine with that.

Are we heading into the dark ages, I don't think so.

Nevertheless, we could be in for growing pains:
  • We have one of the youngest teams in the NFL
  • We have on of the youngest coaches in the NFL, who has never NOT had a HOF at QB
  • We have a relatively young and inexperienced Offensive Coordinator
  • We have a Defensive Coordinator who many of us feel is not the guy (with Jim Leonard taking an off year)
  • We may be starting 2 rookie tight ends and a bunch of second year wide receivers, generally not a recipe for success
  • We do not have a proven Right Tackle at this point
  • There is a chance that by the end of next year, we won't have a proven Left Tackle either
  • We will have either an incredibly old or and incredibly unproven kicker....which is not good in close games

In another thread I said we would be 7-10, but our record next year almost does not matter.

I think we will need to assess whether the upcoming season provides legitimate positive resolution to the issues enumerated above  and whether the case can be made for a bright future, or whether we a few years away.

Go Packers!!!!

I'm not a troll 😑. Yes I had a 5 year gap but that is because life happens. For the record I really do hope love can carry the team which is why I mentioned the possibility in my original post.

As for your original question, we're heading into a rebuild. And I think we'll see the scheme on both sides of the ball tweaked.

On offense, I think LaFleaur will go more towards the traditional Wide Zone like he and Kyle Shanahan used to run instead of the Wide Zone/MM Iso out hybrid of stuff that LaFleaur and Rodgers both liked.

On defense, I think the back 7 will be staying the same, but they just drafted 3 Edge/DT hybrids... and this after drafting very athletic DT Wyatt the year before. So I'm wondering if the Packers are changing scheme wise up front and attacking and penetrating more while two gapping run clogging less.

You can run defend either way, but the attacking is higher risk, higher reward (when it works) but less protection (when it doesn't work) including the second level will have to deal with OL more often.

Too many questions about this year for me to see past it and into the future. But I think the goal is develop the offense, and create chemistry in the passing game this year. I'm worried about the OL though.

OL and DBs are my current predicted needs for next year. Also maybe a RB depending on what happens with Dillon (contract year) and Jones (had to take a pay cut this year, but didn't change the pay for next year yet).

Just to add...I saw the thread about predicting our record. Some of you guys are delusional. Lol.

We saw how things looked without adams. Now without Rodgers it can be a whole new level of sucking.

When we ran the ball last year we were a dominant team, we lost when Rodgers decided to change plays as in the redzone 3 times against the Lions.  We will run the offense the way it was susppose to be run, it won't be flashy but we will grind out yards and take the TOP which in turn helps the defense. I ask what part of the special teams sucked last year? We had the best return man in the league.  Do you even know how this offense is suppose to be run? I say watch the Tennessee Titans of 2020 and 2021 and you will see our offense. Or I say watch the Ravens and argue me with their record the past few years? They run the ball and sprinkle in some passing game and play defense.  I honestly don't think the Lions helped themselves out much in the draft. The Vikes were fluke plays away from being under 500. And of course the Bears will be the Bears. So I guess I'll respect your opinion but they are far from facts or even an intelligent guess because you don't give no reasoning. I always say the Lions will be strong and they always struggle. I don't see them having the high scoring offense this year as last year. Also their non common oppents are Ravens, Cowboys and Seahawks all playoff teams from last year. The Vikes get 49ers, Bengals and Eagles. While the Packers get Steelers Giants and Rams.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I don't care what he did 2 years ago. I am looking at his current results. Hopefully he finds a way to be good again because he has a lot of talent to work with.

Brady was trying everything he could to give the game to Rodgers and he choked it away.

You want to call anybody who is predicting a Winning season "delusional"?

I predict 12-4 or now 12-5 or 13-4 every year.
Then there are the ones who predict 17-0 every year. (Almost nailed it in 2011😄)

Hell dhazer, for the 1st time since 2011, is actually predicting a winning season.
What's up with that?😄

This is supposed to be a fun little thing that we all can look back on at the end of the season.
Don't take things so seriously.

Really, all any of us has is hope and opinions. Not one of us knows how the coming season will pan out.
THere is nothing wrong with posting your OPINION of what it will be. And only time will tell who will be right in their assessment.
No one should be blasted for writing how they feel about the new season, their positive or negative thoughts.
I try to be positive about this year. It's my hope .
But I won't be shocked if it doesn't turn out that way.

buckeyepackfan (44m) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.
buckeyepackfan (50m) : Turnovers rule, win the turnover battle, win the game.
packerfanoutwest (50m) : well, he was
TheKanataThrilla (55m) : Eagles down by contact on the fumble....fuck you NFL

packerfanoutwest (5h) : that being said, The Ravens are the Browns
packerfanoutwest (5h) : Browns, Dolphins have longest AFC Championship droughts
packerfanoutwest (5h) : As of today, Cowboys have longest NFC Championship drought,
beast (16h) : Someone pointed out, with Raiders hiring Carroll, the division games between Carroll and Jim Harbaugh are back on (who can whine more games)
beast (21h) : I'm confused, Pete Carroll and Brian Schottenheimer? When Todd Monken, Joe Brady, Kellen Moore, Kliff Kingsbury and Zac Robinson are availab

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
