Well, that's going to piss off a lot of you "Joe Barry should be fired because she doesn't do halftime adjustments" folks.

"I don't know if I ever made a halftime adjustment in my entire 18-year career. I think that's the biggest myth in football- the halftime adjustments. You go in, you use the restroom, you eat a couple of oranges, and then the head coach says, 'Alright, let's go!'"- Peyton Manning

I don't know about that. It's not players jobs to adjust, it's coordinators jobs. Those "6 plays that were already in the game plan" are there for that purpose. That's why they are in the game plan.

No question that mid-game adjustments can help a team.  It is just some teams will be better at making those changes on the fly.  If your strengths are running a shutdown man-to-man defense and you are getting torched by Davante Adams, you can try to switch to zone or double team.  These changes come with their own set of risks.  What is a fireable offense is how the Packers played against the 49ers in the playoffs.  If your game preparation can't stop their basic rush package at all, your team is screwed and your D coordinator should be fired.

Also Madden is a great tool to learn the strategy and tactics of football.  Just because there are ways to break the AI and nothing stops a player  from always going for it on 4th down doesn't mean it can't simulate realistic situations.  Now to be fair, the game has been garbage over the past couple years but it is still probably the best simulation tool out there to study the game (unfortunately the monopoly is probably the main reason why this statement is true).  In other words, a dedicated madden player can learn alot more about football than someone that is just watching games.

I know I'm not the only one who saw guys open and after the game there were a plethora of clips showing people open. Even Rodgers himself said he missed a few guys.  I was at the game and the wind kicked my ass so I don't remember too much about the game plan. I just know I saw guys open and was like WTF BRUH!

RE: Madden -- You're 100% right. I know my high school level football isn't the professional league, but just as the NFL players are playing vs NFL talent, I was playing against high school talent. I had a college arm but had peewee size. So, when I'd throw the ball, I'd get into tight windows that shouldn't have been possible for someone my size. There wasn't too much timing unless I was heaving it because my WR got a step on his CB.  It wasn't until I played Madden when I learned how to actually read a defense, identify the blitz, make the lurking safety pay, spot a corner blitz, etc ... if I had those damn brains in High School I might have actually made second tier college.

Coincidently, the Giants ran a pass play that I like to use over the weekend. I immediately texted my dad "Giants just did pass play from my Madden playbook".  I didn't recognize it until they showed the behind QB view and I was like a little kid in a candy store. HEY HEY YOU BASTIDS THAT'S MY PLAY!! haha

And to think the game of football still has INSANE amount more things that go into it. It's mind boggling.

I'll just  mention that I  was referring to the loss in 2019 and not 2021.  It says something about how the niners own the Packers that clarification is needed to identify the one game amongst the many losses in the playoffs 🙂

Darius Butler said "that's bullshit" about Peyton Manning not making halftime adjustments, lol. Butler said "that 3rd quarter I had that red dot on my ass" or something like that.

AJ Hawk said they didn't really make any adjustments at halftime. They made them during the game.

Pat McAfee said he did make adjustments because at half-time he had the full field to use.
