Let's assume Aaron Rodgers wants to continue playing and the Packers want to move on to the next QB.

Lots of salary cap dancing and contract shenanigans must go down, but heck, this might be a win-win-win. Win for Rodgers. Win for Packers. Win for Raiders.

Packers get
Raiders 2023 1st Round (7th Overall)
Raiders 2023 3rd Round
Raiders 2024 2nd Round (can go up to 1st round)

Raiders get
Future Hall of Fame Quarterback Aaron Rodgers

I find it hard to believe that AR12 has much trade value unless he is willing to:
adjust his salary to a more team friendly deal.
agrees to play for at least 3 more seasons.
shows that 2022 was the fluke and 2020-2021 is what he will look like in 2023.
he is healthy.

yea only way Rodgers doesnt play for GB in 2023 is if he retires or they reconstruct his contract to trade him. There's really no other options.

If the scenario envisioned is 16 million for the new team, that part is a no-brainer for the team that gets him. The problem is the draft pick compensation. I don't see a team giving up that kind of draft pick compensation for him.  I suppose a significant percentage of Packer fans sincerely believe the thumb caused the rather precipitous decline, but alot of people  league-wide think he has hit the wall and is no longer worth all that much, and many think he's washed-up completely. It only takes one team to pull the trigger, two or more is better, but zero is also within the realm of possibilities. One thing I really hope happens is that the front office works up the stones to get a definitive commitment out of him, one way or another, and do it on the organization's terms, time-wise, period. Who knows, if he commits to retirement or a trade, for example,  we just might be looking for a qb in the 1st round of the draft.

A team that has a good to great defense and a serviceable to good running game. I could see them dropping a 1st rounder and another pick for him. And as I've made it clear. I think Packers have to love Aaron enough to let him go. It is time. Heck, I think a good portion of us thought after 2021 it was time.

Then again, the Jets only gave the Packers a 4th rounder that morphed into 3rd rounder for Brett Favre after a 13-3 season.

Honestly, as long as we get something for Aaron Rodgers, I am good. I wouldn't be happy if they just released him, but I'd get it and get over it.

I still say if he wants to continue playing, you ask him what AFC team/s he wants to join and you start the trade talks. I just really feel it is time he goes one way, and Packers go another. This isn't disparaging Rodgers. SUPER THANKFUL for the many amazing years. I just really feel it is time. Let him go to another team with that chip on his shoulder that the Packers didn't want him. Let him light it up for a year and then retire. He's always going to be remembered as a Green Bay Packers player. No different than Paul Hornug, Jim Taylor, Curly Lambeau, Vince Lombardi, etc ...

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : Turnovers rule, win the turnover battle, win the game.
packerfanoutwest (26-Jan) : well, he was
TheKanataThrilla (26-Jan) : Eagles down by contact on the fumble....fuck you NFL
