Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is likely to skip most of the team’s voluntary offseason work, which coach Matt LaFleur sees as an opportunity for Jordan Love.

LaFleur says that Love, the 2020 first-round pick who has started just one game in his first two NFL seasons, will be running the show when the Packers’ offense is on the practice field.

“It’s real work and he needs all the work that he can get. I know he’ll take that,” LaFleur said, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “And again, I think it’s every opportunity when you’re a young quarterback that doesn’t have a ton of game experience, and you’re not getting the bulk of the reps throughout the course of the season, I think it’s so valuable for Jordan.”

Love struggled in his only start last season, against the Chiefs, and he also didn’t play well in his other extended action, when the Packers decided to rest Rodgers for the playoffs in the second half of the regular-season finale against the Lions. Given Rodgers’ new contract, Love may never be the Packers’ franchise quarterback, but they’d still like to see more from their former first-round pick, and offseason work will indeed be important for him.

Would you want the Packers to pay some crappy vet that doesn't know the offense 9 mill a year after they trade J-Love?

And, Aaron may retire after this season. You want J-Love gone and draft some clown you have to start from scratch developing in the offense?

Thank god Gute isn't at all interested in trading J-Love. Best GM in the league.

1st start in KC, one of the toughest places to play, of course he was going to struggle. He did lead them down for a TD in the 4th.
Could have been a go ahead score if ST"s would have shown up.

Packers were behind 17-13 at the half in Detroit.
Love cane in the 2nd half and eventually put The Packers ahead.
All people remember were his last 2 passes. The 1st was deflected and intercepted, the second he forced trying to make something happen late.
I remember Aaron going 6-10 his 1st year.
The talent is there with Love, hopefully he has a good Spring and Preseason.
I've seen reports where there was some interest in Love, if there's an injury and a team gets desperate, they may make an offer.
No offersx The Packers will have a pretty solid backup.

But I agree. Love played pretty decent, nut I'd like to see better ball placement. Seems like he's reading the defense and hitting the right guy.

That late INT was a back shoulder to Davante, and if they had reps together, there weren't many.

And many forget that J-Love is working with Tom Clements right now. Not idiot Luke Getsy or clown Nathaniel Hackett. Neither of which had any clue how to develop a young QB. Remember that Aaron 100% credits Tom Clements for his development as a young QB.

You may be very surprised to see J-Love in the pre-season. I think the trade J-Love mob will continue to shrink as this year rolls on..
