I've seen this WR name bounced around for Packers quite a bit. The Packers haven't drafted anyone over 22 under Brian G and this kid is 20. He'll probably miss the entire 2022 season. What do you know about him or other potential guys we might pick up in round one?

WR Jameson Williams college stats. Just one good season.

Gute also has never drafted a guy you know will miss the majority of his rookie season in the first 5 rounds.

I think the Packers need someone to play a physical slot role, weather it be a physical TE with enough size to be a mini TE or an athletic TE that can be a true threat in the receiving game.

Also we still don't know what they're going to do with the Smith contracts, but the draft is about the future is right now the Packers 2023 only has Clark and Gary that have proven anything up front... they NEED better depth there, especially if Berry is going to continue to play the conservative version and not blitz more to help the pass rushers even when the Packers had 4 of their top 5 OLBers out with injuries.

This draft is loaded with better Edge Rushers in the top of the draft, need to grab one of them or a DT if you like which ones fall.

Looks like you said he hasn't selected anyone over 22 in any round, which of correct, then that is something interesting.

As for top talent being injured and knowing going to miss time as a rookie... the last couple that pop up into my mind are..

2016: LB Jaylon Smith
2016: LB Myles Jack
2019: DT Jeffery Simmons
2019: WR DK Metcalf

In 2016 (Gute wasn't GM) and Packers only selected DT Clark above them.

In 2019 only OLB Gary was selected before Simmons (though Simmons has been GREAT so far) and they selected OLB Gary, S Savage and OL Jenkins before WR Metcalf... who missed a season or two due to a neck injury in college and some teams had him red flags, though I'm not sure if he's missed any NFL time or not, but his name came.to.mind, as if he was 100% healthy and no medical red flags, some said he'd be a top 10 selection, instead, the last pick of the second round.

In the 1st round Gute seems to like high potential as a value position, as QB, CB, Edge rusher and OT are deemed the most valuable positions with S and TE being on the second tier of that. And all of Gute's selections have been in that first tier so far, and Savage whom was the second selection but still in the first round, is still in that second tier.

Then in round two, the Packers since hiring Thompson, have always drafted either a needed position or a position where an important player was going into a contract year (ie Dillon when Jones was going into a contract year), and then Gute has selected a good big of beef in the 2nd round with Jenkins, Myers and Dillon.

In round three, it has seemed to be a lot of tweeners, like Burks, is he a LB or S? Nope sucks at both... TE Sternberger a TE or WR? Nope, sucks at both.. Dugara is a TE/FB tweener and WR Rodgers a WR/RB tweener.

Though part of this is scheme as well, as this offensive scheme is about versatility out of the same look and you need versatile players and whomever runs Packers.com depth chart, kept making there be two TE starters and two WR starters, instead of the standard 3 WR and 1 TE, which has me believe LaFleur prefers more of a two TE system like Kyle Shanahan than a 3 WR system like Sean McVay.

But versatile players can be huge! But so far, Gute's record there is pretty bad, as Burks is basically just a STer and Stermburger was a miss, and a very talented WR got selected one pick after him, whom surely would of been the Packers #2 WR if the Packers had selected him.

How about this guy? Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis.. He's a fast beast. But he'll be gone in the first round

I thought I would pull this thread back to the top instead of starting a new one. There has been comments on other threads as to who the Packers should take or players we would like to see them select.

In the first round here is the list of WR that merit consideration.
Garrett Wilson. This is about the only WR Green Bay should consider trading up and take if things work out and he "falls" to 14 or better still wait until 17 after the Eagles picks at 15 &16 and before their pick at 19.
George Pickens
Drake London
Chris Olave
Treylan Burks
Johan Dotson
Second round prospects
Skyy Moore
Christian Watson

Non receiver prospects:
Dave Ojabo Edge
Zion Johnson OL
Jordan Davis DL
Nakobe Dean LB
Devonte Wyatt DL

Second round
Daxton Hill S
Kenyon Green OL

I've seen or heard mock drafts expect the Packers to take two WR in the first round. I don't know they would ever do that. I wouldn't mind it if they are able to pick up an average FA (Landry, Fuller or Watkins being my preferred choices) and then wait until the 2nd round.

Still, ideally, you wish he showed better pass rush abilities, and whom knows, maybe with NFL coaching more will come? But certainly not for certain.

Zero2Cool (13h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (14h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
