The Packers don't have to trade backup quarterback Jordan Love, but they should. The former No. 1 pick deserves a chance to at least compete for a starting job in his third season, and there are a handful of teams that would afford him that opportunity. People who think it's OK for Love to ride [...]

Brandt isn't convinced this is for more than one year.

I doubt Rodgers will honor his 4 years (see him leaving after 2023 season). With that said, we should still be looking at QBs these nect two drafts because i just dont see it in Love.

Another question is, will Love want to stick around for 2 years while waiting to become "the guy"?

Maybe Love is not a bust but not developing fast enough so he needs more time to get coached up? They also still get the trade capital for Rodgers in year 3 or 4.

Thing is, if he stays it's because the Packers want him to be the (theoretically) halfway decent back up instead of a undrafted street free agent or an over the hill player who has to be paid the veteran min of whoever many years his has been in the league.
If he goes it's because the packers want to trade him for something they feel is equal or better value than he is. They won't trade him for a 7th round pick but no matter what they tell us they will trade him if another team offers them 3 firsts and 2 seconds for him. His real value is somewhere in between but his Packers perceived value is going to be higher.
