I still think Savages best role might be the nickel role, as he seems much better in man coverage or directly following someone, then reading the field predicting where the ball might go.

But the Packers Safety depth sucks, so they can't move Savage out of the Safety role.

As a surprise pick, I'm thinking the Packers might be interesting in the Safety from Michigan with a high pick, as he is a very athletic Safety with nice upside just like Savage was. Though Savage might have a larger build body. But we need a decent third safety, both because 3rd Safeties often get on the field and because it allows us to move Savage and Amos to the nickel and dime positions if we feel like that would be more helpful.

Of course, Packers entire defense needs more depth, except maybe OLB, but if we release some guys (Smiths) then we might need it too.

Even if they are four average guys, you can cycle them in/out to keep them fresh and often times that.

I'm not sure what to make about Darnell Savage. I really thought he would turn into something in year three or four like Gary. Hindsight genius in my says maybe Marquise Brown should have been the pick. Or keep the two fourths and take Deebo at 30th. Okay, I'm done now.

As for OLBer, it depends on what we're doing there... I wrote that statement based on the contracts we got, and Gary and the Smith brothers would be decent, also the Packers put a ton of OLBers on the IR.

Like we could be getting Ramsey back, whom was our #4 OLB before getting injured in training camp. While he's not a star, he's solid as a #4 guy, better than Garvin, whom we had start at times due to so many injuries.

Amos - I think he is very solid

Turner - This is really a tough one - a good guy, versatile, but a jack of all trades and master of none. Would the money be better spent on a solid but unspectacular RT, like Villanueva

Lowry - agree with go.pack.go on this one...solid but inconsistent. If AR12 is back, you might get a Akeem Hicks or Fletcher Cox at an incentive laden low price

Cobb - Love 'em, but I just don't see it unless he really plays for the minimum with incentives. Availability is suspect.
Go Packers!!!!

Douglas played his way to a mid-level contract as a starting CB, probably something like $7m a year. If the Packers had any cap space whatsoever they would sign him. But they don't, so they probably won't, unless he's overvaluing his market by a significant factor or something like that.

Honestly, if he does sign a contract that the Packers can't match, good for him. He played well beyond expectations, revived his career, and deserves it.

This reminds me of that guy who got $100 million from the Redskins based off like one good season.

I would like both back because obviously the system we used on defense made the most of their talent. I just think other teams breaking the bank for them is a mistake.
