"Washington Football team announces they will retire Sean Taylor's No. 21 on Sunday."

Call me a conspiracy theory guy, but the timing of this kind of feels off.

But they had planed to retire the number "During Alumni Homecoming Weekend" with the Alumni and Taylor's family there, which you don't do all of that very last minute, so I think this was planned in advance.

Though still, if possible I probably would of waited another year until they had their actual new long term mascot/name in place to do it... unless it's the 20 year anniversary or something.

You know what... they probably did plan this for the fall out of the investigation... not nessarily the recent email stuff (not enough time for that) but maybe to get some positive news worried the investigation might have bad news though, and not knowing if they could bury it or not.

I would have to think this was planned well in advanced. The timing is just odd, that is all.

And it's been 14 years... just an odd time, more reason to wait another year to get to 15, or wait until 20, or 21 since he's famous for wearing #21 retire it 21 years after he's gone since you've already waited 14 years.

Either way, they're screwed up muliple times and it seems muliple more times will be coming, especially with Snyder still running the show (unofficially... officially it's his wife).

Then became a pro-scout at the request of then Redskins head coach Vince Lombardi. Became assistant GM and wanted to become the first African American GM but kept getting passed over and retired in 2003 after being "deeply hurt" over muliple owners passing over him for other options and the new head coach decision to issue a new player his number, which hasn't been issued in many years. The only sad part is they retired his jersey about a year and a half after he passed away... seems like he deserved to see that and it probably is only happening to cover up the bad PR as well.

But yeah 3 days is like a last minute thing, but I'd like to hear something from the family to see how long they knew about it.

These both seem like PR moves right now.

From Peter King -- Whoever did it, this point remains, as one prominent plugged-in source told me: “The discipline against Snyder was shockingly light. You suspend Tom Brady when you never proved without a doubt he deflated the footballs, and you don’t suspend Snyder for running that kind of operation in Washington. And Gruden gets ruined. It’s not like Roger’s protecting a guy who’s good for the league anyway. Where’s the fairness?”

This is an excellent point. Tom Brady and Patriots are still called cheaters for things that were not proven, simply because punishment was handed out and well people are sheep.

I wrote a very long reply yesterday and the site when down or something on my or wasn't connecting to the host or something and it's gone now :(

I don't have time to rewrite it... main points...

Goodell is ass backwards management, demanding most from the lowest, and the least from the top.

Jerry Jones has a ton of control and is generally friends with Goodell (except that one period) and Dan Snyder.

And didn't former Panthers owner Richardson basically get forced to sell his team for even less?

Though to be fair, Richardson was clearly directly involved, where Snyder MIGHT be able to claim he didn't completely know what was going on, though he's clearly fostered the environment for it.

But if I had to defend them, I think I'd have a much easier time defending Richardson as being an extremely old man who's struggling to get with times and having to learn and grow to mentally get with the 2000s... over there rumored stuff with Snyder and all of their many screw ups.... this has to be simply because Snyder has better connection, more sue happy and always willing to fight.

The site was down for a little while yesterday. I tried to get in too and was rejected. Damn kids and their protocols. They think they own everything.

Usually my longest posts are lost. Something happens and my screen jumps back a page or the site is down or I lose the internet. Something. Now if I am going to do a Wade type ramble I put it on a word doc first. Some times I use my email program as it spell checks and auto saves. It's better here now that Z has the auto save mode.

Zero2Cool (41m) : It's better to have $17m to use on players who will be on the field. That's why trade/release is talked
Zero2Cool (42m) : post june is $7m cap hit with $17m saving
Zero2Cool (42m) : oops meant $10m cap hit
Zero2Cool (42m) : And pre june is $10m savings
Zero2Cool (43m) : Can't make him play.
dhazer (48m) : I am curious why the big need to release Jaire, we have 29 million cap space we arent spending and would only gain $6 million/ make him play
Zero2Cool (1h) : Joey Bosa signed with Bills?
dfosterf (2h) : What they are offering is a left over case of Leinies from the Chippewa Falls plant
Zero2Cool (2h) : 27, 59, 91, 129 gets you Jaire and our 3rd
Zero2Cool (2h) : they give us those five, or even first four, they can have Jaire.
Zero2Cool (2h) : 27, 59, 91, 129 and 136 are only ones worth having of theirs.
dfosterf (2h) : What they don't have is cap space, at least presently at 5.6 mil
dfosterf (2h) : Poor bastards only have 11
Zero2Cool (2h) : Ravens ain't got crap for picks.
Zero2Cool (2h) : Aaron Rodgers is choosing between Steelers and Giants. The Vikings are officially out on him, per RapSheet
dfosterf (3h) : Current cap space 29.6 million.
dfosterf (3h) : Hobbs 2025 cap hit just under 6 million. Banks 2025 cap hit just over 9 million
Mucky Tundra (9h) : beast, this is news to me! Tell me more about these, "draft picks." They seem mighty mysterious! 😉
beast (11h) : Yes, the Ravens have draft picks
dfosterf (12h) : Good luck to him.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Eric Stokes signs with Raiders
Martha Careful (14h) : Tyler Linderbaum C
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Cap space?
Zero2Cool (15h) : Do Ravens have anything we'd even entertain to have?
Mucky Tundra (17h) : I've seen trade ideas of Jaire going to the Ravens all offseason
beast (18h) : A probably false rumor is suggesting CB Jaire Alexander is being traded to the Ravens, again probably false
beast (18h) : Commanders might have a dominant offense the next 3 years at least
Zero2Cool (20h) : San Francisco 49ers announced they have released DL Leonard Floyd.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Er getting traded twice like that
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Huh, LT Laremy Tunsil traded from Houston to Washington. Never heard of a top OT getting traded in his career like that
Martha Careful (11-Mar) : Minnesota Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. is returning on a three-year, $66 million deal
Zero2Cool (11-Mar) : Damn
Martha Careful (11-Mar) : Saints are re-signing DE Chase Young to a three-year, $51 million deal worth up to $57 million.
Martha Careful (11-Mar) : 49ers releasing FB Juszcyk any interest?
Zero2Cool (11-Mar) : digits of four
Zero2Cool (11-Mar) : four digits
Zero2Cool (10-Mar) : Eh, don't think so. better to split
Zero2Cool (10-Mar) : on new site, would Fan Shout and GameDay Chat show same messages?
Mucky Tundra (10-Mar) : The Hall of Fame stuff probably came from a scout as Zero said; at this point though it's hard to see them moving ZT from RT
Mucky Tundra (10-Mar) : Regarding ZT at C, Gute had said he felt C was ZTs best position after he was drafted.
Zero2Cool (10-Mar) : LB Oren Burks to sign a 2-year, $5M deal with the Bengals.
Zero2Cool (10-Mar) : Based on how it was worded at the time, probably scout.
beast (10-Mar) : I don't think the media person ever told the public the source, but Gute or LaFleur did say they thought Tom has earned his spot at OT
beast (10-Mar) : I think it was supposedly unnamed Packers source
buckeyepackfan (10-Mar) : Was that Gute or Lefleur or someone else?
buckeyepackfan (10-Mar) : Zach Tom could be a really good guard, an all pro tackle, but probably be a HOF Center. Who said that?
Zero2Cool (10-Mar) : It's March 10th. I don't think anything is done.
Martha Careful (10-Mar) : if we think CB is done, we have a poor roster
Mucky Tundra (10-Mar) : CB and OG in FA, narrows down the top of the draft board a little
Martha Careful (10-Mar) : Meh....I hope we can get Ward 49ers or Murphy Vikings
