The Packers have created a little cap space. Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Packers restructured the contract of defensive lineman Dean Lowry, who has one of the highest cap hits on the team. It's a bit of a surprise. I wasn't sure Dean would be on the final 53 this year. The cap savings is pretty modest so in the greater scheme of things doesn't really move the needle all that much.

Also means they need to find another way to get 2022 Cap lower, unless it's higher than predicted. Though releasing Preston Smith contract or at least getting another reduction in salary might still be on the table.

Possibly if they get guys to agree on extension with signing bonuses but without extension they have to start releasing guys.

Also got to remember who's not currently signed for 2022, WR Adams, CB King, TE Tonyan, WR MVS, WR Funchess, CB Sullivan, G Patrick, CB Jackson, P Scott, S Redmond, LS Bradford are all FAs. And others like WR Lazard are RFAs.

And extending guys starts eating into the future cap were the Packers are pretty high compared to other teams.

I don't know where they are going to find cap relief next year. Projections I have seen has us about 20 mil over, and in many ways that's worse than the 33 mil problem we had this year, as we have chewed up virtually all cap machinations to get where we are.

Cut Turner and Lowry $4 mil each
That's $59 mil of cap freed up giving them 19 mil to play with. They will need about $10 mil to pay draft picks and free agents.

I predict the cap at 208 As if, I know. As if, anyone else does. Gute and Ball have a tough job...I know that much.
