Panthers will want people to think that they're intent on keeping him because it helps them in negotiating a deal. I think they would like to keep him as well, but I'm not sure he doesn't find away to just get out of Carolina. I think things pickup next week on his front.

My guess is he ends up in New England, but that's just a guess.

I agree with everything you said there Porky and unfortunately the players want to goto winning teams thus i also think he is going to NE.

Also agreed on this - it'd be one thing if Peppers was specifically calling to be moved to GB, but we all know where he wants to go (hint: It ain't GB).

A 6-10 team, in an unfavorable climate with limited nightlife led by a GM who is overly stingy. Why would anyone want to come here?

To get guys in GB you better cough up some dough.

Yeah, and then great, you have a player who only came here for a paycheck. He doesn't care about the class and quality of the organization and facilities, or the history, or being in a "football town". You have a partier who is unhappy and getting a huge paycheck. That'll work out well.

I prefer getting football people, and I have no problem with family men like Greg Jennings.

The only thing Ted Thompson is stingy about is bringing in new FA's in an overpriced market. The organization treats/rewards their current players well. I know. Damn him.

I'm not sure if this post is substantiated. A "partier"? Do you have something to back this up? Do you think that 90% of the football players wouldn't be considered "partiers" by most peoples standards? Strapping men who are also nfl stars with millions of dollars. That's a lot of pressure and I'm sure many of them have to fight women off with a stick, as well as parties and club scenes.

If Green Bay adapts a policy of no high prices free agents, no "partiers," and no one looking for a big paycheck, well, our chances of winning a super bowl ANY time soon are going to be quite low. We also better get rid of Johnny Jolly for good in the mean time then, because he's definitely a "partier."

I'm sure if Pepper's was coming here many of our attitudes towards him would be MUCH different.

Wasn't Woodson considered one of these "players"? I don't know.. he didn't want to play for GB right? He took the payday and has had great season for us. Who is to say Peppers wouldn't be the same?

Nice post Dodd.

It's funny that alot of GB players are going to have to have thier contract redone next year. I guess they will not be asking for any money and will just play here for tradition.

Get real. Woodson came for the buck and I would bet you that all 53 guys on the opening day roster would jettison off if another team offered up more money and thier contract was up

Exactly. I don't think it means that any player is a "bad" person just because Green Bay might not be their first choice. I mean, if you had the option between Green Bay, New York, or Tampa Bay, a lot of people probably would choose NY or Tampa Bay simply because of the more active life styles and better weather. I don't see how that's necessarily "unfair."

I believe that more times then not, Green Bay would have to be the highest bidder to get any big time free agents or have some type of extenuating circumstance going on. That's just reality. As long as the strategy of not bringing in some of the big time talents like Julius Peppers works out, it's fine. We will find out again this season because it obviously didn't work last season. If we expect to field a team full of Greg Jennings and Donald Driver's we will probably be waiting a looong time and have quite a different staff before that happens.

I don't mind that Thompson is skeptical in free agency. It's a risky business. But like many on here have said, I don't see how adding ONE proven starter would hurt us in any way. I think NOT doing so is a much bigger risk then doing so. Perhaps you will save some money but in doing so you might end up losing your job.

As I have mentioned earlier, there is still time to do so after the draft, even if the quality of free agents drops off a bit. Time will tell. However, I remain skeptical.

Yeah that's an excellent point. So I guess the environment dictates a lot. But you know what, it's one reason why I respect Woodson so much. He strikes me as really having his shit together as a person. I can't say I respect everyone as much as him, or expect as much out of them.

There is nothing to say Peppers wouldn't do the same, though, you're right. Just an unsubstantiated opinion of mine that I carelessly threw out there.

He's already have 4 career interceptions (0 for Aaron Kampman), 36 passes deflected (8 for Kampman), 70.5 sacks (50.5 for Kampman), 339 total tackles (416 for Kampman).

And yet those numbers, as impressive as they appear, are almost insignificant compared to Reggie White's numbers at this stage in his career. I posted them in another thread, but I can't be bothered to do a search at this moment (sick kids and sick wife kind of sap one's motivation).
