One of the most humble people to be a General Manager that I'm aware of. The position often brings people with large egos and he had no qualms with minimizing his ego. Great guy from what I've read and Packers were lucky to have him.

Very sad news. Just heard from two sources that former #Packers GM Ted Thompson died last night. He had just turned 68 on Jan. 17.

Another good snippet from someone who isn't trying to bash him for how he appeared in press conferences. I admire people who show and display respect.

It's sad, but also sounds like he was having major troubles before that. I believe report a good while ago suggested Thompson couldn't be left on his own, as he'd wander off.

Which didn't say it, but seemed to imply mentally he would get lost and not be able to find his way back.

He sounded like a great but maybe a bit boring human being.

And to try to set the record straight, he wasn't tight with money, he spent the money, it's just instead of over paying outsiders FAs, he'd over pay insider FAs. Which yes was boring, but he spent the money, and he even brought in Woodson, Pickett and others and sounded like he was #2 or #3 on a lot of deals. But he didn't sit on the money, he spent it and tried to win and put together some pretty good teams that had chances to win.

It’s sad. He was a huge part of the Packers winning SB45.
I got to meet him at Fan Fest, and he was a very nice man.

We knew he was having medical problems towards the end of his time as GM.
Many people picked on him, which I thought was terrible.
He gave his all for the team. Who can ask for more?

Very sorry to hear this. I liked Ted. He was a good GM. He cared about his people and backed them up.

I was just thinking about him earlier this week. I was going to look on the web to see if his health had declined. After thinking about it I realized there would not be anything to read. It's the Ted Thompson way. It made me smile.

While Rodgers was the crown jewel of Thompsons drafts and the biggest one he lived and died by, it's easy to forget that he had a hand in Wolf acquiring Favre.

I'm glad they waived the waiting period to put him in the Packers Hall of Fame because he very clearly deserved it and deserved to enjoy the day. When it's said and done, a lot of the players acquired by him will be joining him in that building (and with a couple more making their way to Canton hopefully).

Zero2Cool (11h) : Packers were not selected for the 2025 Hall of Fame game.
dfosterf (13h) : PFOW Out of our division would be a good thing imo
Zero2Cool (15h) : Jameson Williams is done at 24 years old? What? He's a WR, not QB. I'm missing something here haha
wpr (15h) : Tomorrow is almost here.
packerfanoutwest (15h) : would you want him if Pack needed a back up qb?
packerfanoutwest (15h) : JW is done......stick a fork in him
Zero2Cool (17h) : You should. He goes to AFC that helps Packers.
packerfanoutwest (23-Apr) : don't care
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Lions shopping Jameson Williams?
packerfanoutwest (22-Apr) : Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst says Green Bay’s roster can win, even without adding anyone in the draft.
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : It's a poor design. New site has SignalR like our gameday chat

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
