Let's go Aaron!!


Aaron Rodgers asked on @WildeAndTausch how he'd feel if Packers took a QB at 30: "Well, look, I'm a realist. I know where we're at as an organization. I know where I'm at in my career."

Adds: "No matter who you bring in, they're not gonna be able to beat me out anytime soon."

I hope he's right that he has a lot of good years left. Or I hope he's wrong and that we draft a new QB that's able to outperform Rodgers.

I always hope that any player the Packers draft is better than the current starters, because that means the team is improving!

After 3 years, Rodgers was ready to replace Favre. If we acquire the right guy now, such timing would be perfect.

Of course I HOPE that whoever the next QB is, that he’s great.
Of course looking at all the teams that haven’t been able to draft even ONE great QB, reality is that there’s not a great chance that we will get a third great QB.

It takes 3 years to properly develop a QB so it is not surprising that someone as smart as Rodgers knows this. Favre on the other hand ...

I hope we draft a QB 1-2 years from now. That way the new QB will be groomed in the last couple years of Rodgers’ career rather than being ready while Rodgers is still playing at a high level. I don’t want to see Rodgers on another team. And I feel like he can play until he’s 40 easily.

Man....another difficult decision.....which I’m glad I don’t have to make.
Who really knows how many good seasons Rodgers has left. Could be one, could be five. Injury could make the decision. You never know.
Wait too long to pick his possible replacement, and you lose who knows how many seasons. Pick too soon, and the new guy might want out, not want to wait for Rodgers to ride off into the sunset.
Had they not given Rodgers the starting job when they did, he most likely would have demanded to be let go.
