Just out of interest... Why, if you could pick anyone you want, would you pick a high-potential, not totally polished, low value position player?
You could get, arguably, the best center in the game, who's less than 2 years older than Mack. You could take a LT, a high position value o-line pick. Why exactly did you go with Mack?

On offense.. we have plenty of weapons as receivers, Rodgers is as good as it gets at QB, and adding a star back to the lineup isn't going to help as much as fixing the boys up front.
Why a Center.. I think it is the weakest overall link we have in establishing a solid consistent running game.. IMO, the missing ingredient to becoming a dominant football team on the offensive side of the ball.
I like Wells.. but I think he is undersized and doesn't give us a real good push from the middle of the line.
Mack is a lower salary ascending player whom is plenty physical at the point of attack and is a fine pass blocker.
We have Clifton at a high dollar contract tied up, we have a young tackle in waiting to slide over and IMO, there are few quality centers in the game today.. hence why guys like Birk continue to hang around, and at this point I think we have better options at tackle and guards on the roster. Worst case scenario, Mack could slide on spot to the left... he is young at I believe 25 yet.
Unless we shouldn't take into account things like salary considerations, current depth, amount of touches to go around for the skilled players and what our holes are.. I will stay with a high potential, low salary power player inside. I could rattle off a few other names.. but you get the idea.
Mack in the two games I have watched them play has impressed me.. he came to mind.
On top of that.. I think Centers are undervalued as a whole.. they make a number of the blocking calls in addition to making sure the candy ass QB's get the ball so that can be over hyped. ;)
Did I mention that unless a beast of a backer is sitting there.. or a blue chip corner has slipped.. we should be picking depth at the DE or oline of this draft.
