Well, based on those 5 picks, I suggest we trade back several spots (3-4)

Well historical the Packers don't often draft offensive in the 1st round outside of OL. So I'm thinking defensive if they resign Bulaga (there has basically been one exception pretty GM of recent GMs).

Of course 30 is almost like a 2nd round pick.

This is said to be a deep year for WRS and we really need a WR and don't have any young guys coming up.

We need a RT unless we sign somebody.

Need a starting TE after we release Graham (but alright have a high draft selection there).

We need better ILB play

Need better CB play.

And a dominant DT next to Clark could really set their defensive front up on terms of elite pass rushing.

WR
Our drafted WR's are garbage. Maybe St Brown can turn into something? I will not hold my breath. We tried for three and I think we missed on all three. Valdes-Scantling is someone I'm ready to write off. I know, I know, it takes three years, but shit, there wasn't a jump from year one to year two to make me think year three will be different. I'd keep him and give him a chance, but I wouldn't count on him. I think this draft is loaded with WR talent so let's get some fast ones. And also pluck out a few cheap free agent fast ones too. We need speed!

TE
We shouldn't give up on Jace Sternberger (sp?) just yet. I am liking what I saw from him in the limited action. I think he's gonna be a big contributing next season without Jimmy Graham on the roster.

RT
I would like to have Bulaga back. I just think some team is gonna offer him cash we shouldn't and cannot match. I would bring back Veldheer for depth. Sign a Free Agent or draft his replacement.

ILB
Blake Martinez is not the problem. The fact that he's the "best" ILB we have, that is the problem. Sounds like I'm talking AJ Hawk here, geez. Blake is gonna get a major contract from some other team. We'll need to draft ILB and also use free agency to add depth and probably a starter. Maybe a trade?

CB
I have no idea what to think about Kevin King. At times the guy dominates, and other times he's watching his guy score.

DT
I don't think DL is going to help this team. I don't think we have more than 2 or 3 ever on the field to eat up blockers anyway. If we added some DL help, that will make the LB's better, which in turn makes the CB's better.

#30 is 3 selections away from 2nd round... it's probably going to get around the same talent level as those top 2nd round picks.

WR: St. Brown didn't look like he deserved a spot compared to Lazard and Shepherd to me, so I'm counting him out. I don't know why MS struggled so much or if he can bounce back with an off season or not.

TE: I'm certainly not giving up on Sternberger. But he also got the 4th most snaps both in the year and from one article I saw in the NFC game, so I'm not sure if he's ready to be #1 TE (yet), just think he might be another year off.

OT: Resign Bulaga! And the vet backup, and draft a guy for the future (at least future depth backup guy).

ILB: I think we're gonna sign a vet FA, Martinez, the guy from the Browns, or maybe copy like last year with Amos and grab one of the guys from the Bears.

CB: King sucks... the CBs lack of ability to hold up in man coverage was a problem and made Pettine stay in zone often. And offensive can force man coverage in certain packages.... Packers need to get guys that can hold up in man coverage better.

DL: A dominant DT could put this defensive front to elite in pass rush... and we need someone that's better than Lowry and Lancaster to step up, which so far we can't find, but a little hope with Keke, I think Adams is gonna be a disappointing selection.

Pick 30 is only 3 picks from round 2. Thus, not a great possibility to be of immediate help, which is what this team needs.
Plus next seasons teams we play will make it even tougher.
There will have to be MAJOR improvements by players already on the team, and major draft hits and FA signings if this team is going anywhere next season.

We really need our 2019, 2018 and 2017 draft classes to step up huge here. You can't rely on the current draft class to put you over the edge. When teams do that, they tend to reach and sacrifice too much.

What would be interesting to see is how many players have first round grades by the Packers. One team a few years ago said they only felt there was 15 players worth a first round pick. And do they have blended grades like 1st, 1st/2nd, 2nd, 2nd/3rd, etc ... this kind of stuff is what I think about when people say if the 2000 draft happened again, Patriots would use their 1st round pick on Tom Brady. I call BS on that. If you can get your guy at 199th, why the hell would you burn your 1st round pick?

It's also the chess match, which I'm glad I do not have to be involved in because I'd be playing kiddie checkers vs them all.
