I really have no idea where you come up with this stuff. He did it last year, but remember Aaron Rodgers, AJ Hawk and Bustin' Harrell (No doubt that you're going to attack this one :p)? All of them where first round picks.

Even the one time that he did trade back into the second round, it really wasn't that far. We went from the 30th pick to the 36th. It's a drop back of 6 places and it got us another 4th round pick (Which we eventually traded away to trade up to the 102nd pick to select Jeremy Thompson).

I really like you, but you should really stop substituting reality with your own subjective version.

That doesn't make his point any more valid though. I can say that Rodgers will have a HoF career and will win us 3 superbowls, but that's based on pretty much nothing. I can say that I'm good looking, but that isn't true. Combine the both together (Based on nothing and not true) and you have David's last point.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Dave. Had some great chats with him, especially on superbowl day, but this one really doesn't make any sense. 😛

You are right, Rock, but remember the pedigree from whence he emanates. You are sitting in bumbfuck Europe, as far as the NFL goes... He is sitting in extremely highly-adversarial Pittsburgh, PA. The absolute center of NFL-bullshit-prospective controversy for 2009. They are wound real-tight, and physical about it. He may make no sense/clue to you, and seem like a contrarian, but I can virtually guarantee that he is defending our honor amongst those pukes, and they do have legitimate critiques of everyone on the Pack. His failures to properly defend are between him and I, and will be further addressed as the off-season continues. (last part, a semi-joke, but I too, have this burden to bear...I just happen to be better at it, lol.)

Bottom line, unless you are a minority of one in a bar fight with a bunch of fellows over your fandom, an extremely likely scenario for a Packer fan in Pennsylvania, you need to give the kid (to me) or your dad (to you), a friggin' break.

He still is clueless, but that is a personal opinion. :thumbleft:

Edit:

I often wonder if those that sit in a bar in a sea of GBP jerseys appreciate how difficult it can be to be a Packer fan elsewhere in this country.

This might clear up the drafting for NEED

article on drafting

Every general manager says he takes the best available athlete. Many of them lie. Some even lie to themselves. The rub is each team defines the best available player with each pick. So if you have a huge need at say, defensive end, you make a defensive end the best available player when your pick comes up.

You can set it up so you know this is the player you are going to take because thats the way you have the board stacked, said Packers general manager Ted Thompson, who is more true to the best available philosophy than the large majority of his peers.

Why do so many drafters get sucked up into drafting for need? Because they lose sight of the long-term best interests of the franchise and are primarily concerned with the problem that is right in front of their noses.

This often is more true of head coach-driven teams than it is of general manager-driven teams.

It is enticing to take off need, no question, said Cardinals player personnel director Steve Keim.

But the problem you fall into in our minds is this: How many times is your need in April the same as it is in October?

Due to injuries, contracts and other issues, your needs constantly change. But I know you cant have too many good football players regardless of position.

Its one thing to draft a player for need if the grades are very close between that player and another player you dont need. Or if you are talking about the later rounds of the draft.

But if a team tries too hard to fill holes with draft choices, it will end up building up players into more than they are and passing on players with superior ability at other positions.

Down the road, it will still have holes, and regrets to go with them.

btw guys the trade comment for the draft was said out of a joke because Foster told me to figure out what we are going to do lol. Rock as far as your comments about Rodgers, Bustin, and Hawk those are all project picks (well ok Hawk wasn't suppose to be)

But Foster those fans sitting back in Wisconsin don't know how easy it is and not have to defend yourself specially when your surrounded by fans of a team that just won the super bowl. But i stand up and i'm always wearing my green and gold with pride. I will be at the packer vs steeler game this year and im bringing a sign say heres to you packershome lol and hopefully i come out of there with only a few bumps and bruises.

Now people it was easter time to relax and enjoy the weather summer is coming and we don't need to get all worked up about the Packers team and what they afre or aren't doing. Enjoy the family here on Packershome. Damn i feel like a spokesman for her throwing in all the little plugs lol.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
