IMO, D. Adams is an above WR. The WR1 designation came for him as a result of default. Being better than Cobb and with Allison injured and with a lot of rookie WRs on GB's roster, Adams ascended to WR1. He also benefited from the departure of Jordy Nelson. As a result he became Rodgers' (an elite QB) most trusted receiver.
I don't dislike Adams, but if he were playing on another team with a QB like Rosen or Allen or Winston last year, we would have had to strain to hear him be mentioned in the sports reports. He
owes his success to Aaron Rodgers. I fully expect him to be, the fully healthy Rodgers', #1 target again this 2019 season. However I forsee Allison and St. Brown and even TE Jimmy Graham getting a greater share of the pie in 2019. Also, if as I hope, GB drafts a TE in the 2019 NFL Draft, he too should get his portion as well. In addition, Valdez-Scantling and Kumerow will be eager to earn the respect of Rodgers and LaFleur.
I also fully expect to see a much better Running Game emerge in the new LaFleur Offensive System. It should help the passing attack for the Packers by taking some of the pressure off of it.
Adams is not a Antonio Brown or Odell Beckham or Tyreek Hill, but he is a solid WR and with Rodgers as his QB, will preform above average yet again. Let's hope that he and the other GB receivers will get better with their weakest skill, gaining separation from their defenders and giving their QB a clear target to throw to. It would help keep the QB in the pocket and reduce the
need to scramble looking for an open target to throw to. Not only would it help the GB offense be more successful, it should help reduce the risk of injury to Rodgers and to others as well.
Is Adams special, no he is not. His QB is however special and he elevates the play of those around him. Adams should again reap that benefit in the 2019 season.
