This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates. Nathaniel Hackett's Packers meeting went well. Green Bay is bringing the former Jacksonville offensive coordinator aboard as its OC, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports (via Twitter). The Jaguars fired Hackett midway through this season. He will join Matt LaFleur's staff and play a major role in revamping [...]

I'm curious what challenging and engaging Aaron Rodgers will entail, if it will be Matt LeFleur calling the plays.

Despite their 2018 descent, the second-generation coordinator will land on his feet. And after working with the likes of E.J. Manuel, Kyle Orton and Blake Bortles, Hackett will now oversee the work of one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. Quite the change of scenery.

Yeah it's kinda hard to make a judgement on Hackett when those are the best QBs supplied to him to work with... sometimes I just don't understand GMs... like the former Giants GM refusing to upgrade a HORRIBLE OL for the very immobile Eli Manning or the Jaguars refusal to upgrade Bortles for the last couple of years.

But LaFleur/Hackett went from division rivals (Titans/Jaguars) last year to the same team this year.... and Pettine/Hackett are coordinators together once again (Bills 2013).

I guess the league thinks Blake Bortles sucks.

Hard for me to have much of an opinion because I haven't seen that much of Jacksonville or Buffalo.

I'm more impressed by the fact that Hackett got that horrible offense to the play-offs (albeit on the back of that defense), than I'm worried about what he showed this year. The man had a Blake Bortles-led offense 6th in yardage and 5th in points. I know that was on the back of that number 1 rushing games, but that's still impressive. Especially since Fournette ran hard, but for just 3.9 ypc.

I think that says quite a bit. I imagine that LaFleur has at least asked for Pettine's opinion in regards to this hire, being on the same team with Hackett, practicing against his offence, seeing them play week in week out. Add to that that LaFleur must've seen enough Jaguars tape and this comes over as a very well-informed decision.

We have to keep in mind here that Hackett never really deserved to be fired. As many of you have stated, as good as the Jaguars were on defense in 2017, the offense was no slouch either. Hackett actually made Blake Bortles look pretty good despite losing Allen Robinson earlier in the season.

Facts to note:

After he was fired this year, the Jags scored 3 TDs in 5 games.
One was a pick-6.
One was a punt return...

Jaguars 2018 offense with Hackett: 17.9 points per game
Jaguars after Hackett's firing: 9.6 points per game
