Wow. I think we all expected this to happen, but most felt after the season ended. Does anyone think Hackett joins Packers as consultant?

Edit -- do you think there is any truth that Broncos GM felt they were going to be able to bring Aaron Rodgers over along with Hackett? When that didn't happen, they overpaid for Russell Wilson. And since no Rodgers and no success, Broncos are like well we gotta make a change ... HC is least financially destroying...

Wouldn't be a bad idea.
As long as The Packers don't give him an official "title", The Broncos have to pay his salary.
Bellichec does this a lot.
I know Tom Clements came out of retirement.
This could work out well.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

I wasn't all that impressed with the hire to begin with. That said you have to give a guy a couple of years. I still wonder about Ray Rhodes getting the ax after just one season.
As to the question of bringing him back- NO!  I don't want 3 different guys wispering in AR12's ear. I don't want him to tell the WRs how to run their routes if it is different from what MLF, TC and Jason Vrable have already been teaching them. If you want to talk about some responsibility for next season, maybe. But it has to be agreed to by the real coaches first.

But let's be honest, his previous OC experience in Jacksonville was underwhelming and the primary asset on his balance sheet was his relationship with Rodgers....I  mean....he did not even call plays here.

If:
  1. He is not hired well into the off-season AND
  2. Rodgers and the Packers part ways,

I would predict a Rodgers reunification with Hackett, perhaps as a QB coach somewhere else

I believe the Broncos GM is from the Vikings and got a first hand look at the success the Packers had... and that's what he wanted, and schemes and such.

Note the Broncos and Vikings both took the same offensive and defensive system that the Packers were using.

Also, I'm not sure the Broncos GM got to choose the head coach, as they were hired at the same time.

But yes, Hackett had Rodgers phone number and could talk to him, and see if he was retiring, returning to the Packers or wanted out.

buckeyepackfan (22m) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (23m) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.
buckeyepackfan (29m) : Turnovers rule, win the turnover battle, win the game.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
