How do we know he's going to win a SB?
McDaniels was part of (another) video tape scandal in Denver, couldn't make it 2 seasons there, and as has already been mentioned, has bailed on the Colts.
Belichick probably wanted to retain Weiss, Mangini, Cromell, etc. too but what did they do outside of Foxboro?
McDaniels could go on to be a HOF coach for all I know, but I don't see the compelling evidence for why he's such a hot commodity.

I have no way of knowing how much of the Patriots offensive success is due to Belichick, McDaniels, Brady, etc. It's likely a combination of all of the above and more. But Bill Belichick and the Patriots seem to really like McDaniels, and it's not unreasonable to think they are hoping he is being trained to be the front runner to replace Belichick. They gave him a lot of money to stay. Without extensive research, this tells me that they are more than comfortable with his "character," be it for offensive coordinator or whatever. Since I respect Belichick so much, I have to believe that McDaniels is more misunderstood than any type of bad or risky person.
Moreover, he has a history of working with the most winning QB and coach ever and succeeding with them. That gives him an impressive resume, even if he's not the best hire.
