Anyhow, I'm just eager to see what the new coaching regime does in 2020. 2019 is gonna be a feeling out year.

Should have done it right after last season and your feeling out year would be over.

Signed Aaron to big extension, basically empowering him, letting him run the team.
Then when things didn't go well, he fired Mike in season, putting all the blame on him.
Something btw that had NEVER been done in 50+ years in Green Bay..

Since Ron Wolf came to Green Bay there have been plenty of changes, the one thing that stayed constant was the sound foundation of the organization.

That is all gone.

Packers, Steelers. Patriots to name a few were teams known as having a solid foundation, with a plan for the long haul.

Murphy could have made all the changes after the 2017 season, and The Packers at least would still know where they were headed.

Murphy wasted a year, now he will be scrambling to get things back on track.

Yet, when the Packers CEO (i.e. owner) is responsible for hiring/firing HC, it's Murphy failing and making a mistake.

Numerous other teams (Cardinals, Dolphins, Seahawks, Raiders, Colts to name a few off top of my head) Owner makes the decision on hiring/firing the HC as well.

This dead horse really needs to be left alone. It's getting as tiresome as nerdmann calling WATCH THE FAKE every special teams play.

I don't give a damn who is doing the hiring or firing.
What I do give a damn about is how it's being done.

My opionion.
Mark Murphy has completely screwed up the whole organization with his actions the past year.
He may be a great money guy, but he sure the hell hasn't shown he is a football guy!

Why all of a sudden does he have to have a say on the football side of things?

Screw it, I won't say another word about it.

Hell I can handle The Packers having losing seasons, something a lot of people cant do.

John Dorsey accepted a promotion in 2013 with the Chiefs. Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmigh accepted promotions with the Browns. I would think it looks good on Mark Murphy that people in his charge (actually Ted Thompson's charge but you wanna fault Murphy so I guess I have to falsely credit him to stay in line with your thinking) got promoted elsewhere.

Mark Murphy did not tell McCarthy he had to replace the QB Coach, OC or the DC. The QB Coach choose not to sign an extension because McCarthy doesn't let his assistants interview elsewhere. Edgar Bennett and Dom Capers proved they needed to be replaced.

The releasing of Jordy Nelson and signing of Jimmy Graham AND Mo Wilkerson, I don't know how you put that on Murphy and not Brian G.

Yes, for the first time in the Packers history (in '53, that coach resigned) they fired a coach with games left to play claiming they wanted to get a head start on candidates. And seeing as we have more head coach openings this season than we have since 2013, they may have been right to do so. I've read a few national media people say the Packers did themselves and McCarthy a favor by separating when they did as it gave McCarthy more time to prepare for interviews elsewhere.

You said Murphy signed Aaron to a big extension that basically empowered him and lets him run the team. Bullshit! If Aaron doesn't get signed, you would have went 180° on that saying Murphy is fucking up by not signing Rodgers and it's only going to cost the Packers more.

Your biggest beef was the alignment of power with the Packers. When it was pointed out that the two teams you cited as having a solid foundation operate similar to how the Packers are now aligned, you then change your tune to the duration of the coaches tenure. And asking the last time either fired a coach with games remaining in the season. Patriots 1984. Steelers 1939(?).

Mark Murphy hasn't shown he's a football guy ...
Eight years playing in the NFL (led the league one year in interceptions), an being an All Pro mean nothing? Fair enough, I wouldn't want Brett Favre running footbal decisions and he was league MVP.
Hiring Pat Fitzgerald while AD at Northwestern, who btw, has three 10 win seasons since taking the job in 2006. Fun note --Northwestern had just two 10 win seasons prior dating back to 1896.

Then you ask why does Murphy all the of a sudden have to have a say on the football side of things. The say that Mark Murphy has on the football side of things is the hiring of the Head Coach. He's not firing players. He's not firing assistants. He's not signing players. He's not trading players. His involvement on the football side of things is helping with the hiring of the Head Coach, just like a lot of Owners in the NFL do.

Bottom line, you are making things up to slander the guy and it shows you really don't know much about him. Look, this is a huge change for Packers fans. Change is scary, I get it, I'm with you on that. We could bounce back and be a contender in 2019 or we could be seeing a repeat of the 70's and 80's all over. We just don't know, but as a Packers fan, I choose to not let what professionals are doing get me bent out of shape. At least, not before I give them a reasonable amount of time to prove their worth.

Keep your opinions and thoughts coming, but the slandering really doesn't help anyone. We all have to do better and be better.

Murphy gets the chance to prove himself though. Just because he comes across as a bumbler at the podium, doesn't mean he really is an idiot. He was an athletic director at NW, correct? I mean he played the game. He hired an all time great coach at NW.

Ted Thompson was no social genius either. lol

Are you saying Gute doesn't have control of the 53 man roster?

The QB coach rumored left because he was asked to interview for an offensive coordinator job and really wanted to, but Mike McCarthy blocked it, which pissed him off, so he finished his contract and then left.... which had nothing to do with Murphy.
Mike McCarthy said he wanted Philbin back and he tried to keep the other OC.

And are you really blaming people for firing Capers and hiring Pettine? 🙄

And are you saying letting Jordy go, was Murphy decision and not Gute's decision? Despite Gute pulling the trigger and when Nelson wanted to resign to a cheap deal, it was Gute who met with him, to tell him, we are moving on...

It really seems your just blaming him for everything.... even stuff that probably had very little to nothing to do with him....
