Similar in structure to half of the NFL perhaps, but Murphy comes across as a bumbler, which not be the case among most league owners.

A number of owners have attempted to be the Yankees and Red Sox and just buy all the big named free agents.

Have you seen Jerry Jones, completely fail to be able to keep his mouth shut and even talking about wanting some gloryholes! (I'm not sure he was sober)....

The Colt owner often put his foot in his mouth before getting caught with drugs and sorta being told to shut up....

The former Titans owner got emotional and gave the crowd the middle finger...

The Dolphins owner has often seemed like a bumbler when trying to explain his moves.

The Redskins are one big giant bumbler... since the owner took over they went from the longest season ticket lines to not being able to sell them, because the owner is nickel and dining them, including making them pay for training camp tickets... which by NFL rules, scouts can't visit other team's training camp unless the team makes viewers pay... so the entire division sent scouts down to watch their entire training camp and study their plays and players.

The Bengals owner is a mess, claiming they can't make enough and when people point out they could make 8 figures a year by selling stadium naming rights, they simply say that's not enough and refuse to do it, despite also reportedly having the smaller budgets in the NFL on a number of different categories, and struggles to hire anyone.

The Browns owner has had a knack for getting involved in personal moves, including forcing Pettine led Browns to draft and then play Johnny Football, when he clearly wasn't ready... for making game day coaching decisions.

Raiders former owner Al Davis keput getting into legal lawsuits with the NFL and rumor has it, he would often get frustrated and make a call down to the field and yell at them for not throwing the long ball enough...

You all keep defending Murphy.

Just quit complaining when The Packers keep finishing out of the playoffs.

When Ron Wolf was in charge, calling the shots, The Packers returned to relevance.
Even won a Super Bowl.
Then there was the Rhodes year.
Mike Sherman era. Great HC but when he was given the GM/HC monitor, things went south pretty fast.

Enter Ted Thompson

When 1 guy is ultimately calling the shots, history shows The Packers are a better team.

Something that was left out as you all were tearing my post apart.

Last time.

Murphy blew it after the 2017 season.
Instead of cleaning house, he half-assed it.

2018 became a wasted year.

I don't give a damn how the Packers are srtuctered as long as ONE GUY is calling the shots when it comes to The football side of things.

Gutekunst can be that guy.

Murphy needs to go back to whst he was doing.

Also your praising Wolf and Thompson, who I believehave both openly admitted to bouncing ideas off of other people and delegating responsibility... yet when Murphy does it... it's suddenly bad and evil?

Murphy is going back to what he was previously doing, organizating the executives.... and Murphy did what the Packers previously did when the old head coach got a shot with the new GM... it didn't work out out in either case...

The top football people have always selected head coach, it just turned out that this time the President is a football person... and unlike last time, the President is fully active and healthy, unlike Harlan who was trying to retire and the incoming President John Jones who had health problems.

Where you're getting that Murphy is doing anything more, I haven't a clue. I tried to provide facts for you, but you're gonna just go off on whatever you want to believe. And that is OKAY!

Personally, the aspect of the structure that I'm least thrilled about is Russ Ball reporting to Murphy and not Brain G. Quite honestly, I haven't a damn clue why I don't like it. I would also like the General Manager hiring/firing the head coach too, but that's probably because it's what I've known the majority of my football fanhood life as that's how things were with Ron Wolf and then Ted Thompson.

We have to mention that Bob Harlan is the one who removed the general manager duties from Mike Sherman. Interesting to think about, seeing as Mike Sherman the GM didn't fire Mike Sherman the GM, it was the CEO sticking his nose into the "football side of the things". Yet, when that happened, I do not recall any crying over the CEO stepping into football things. That worked out well for us, so maybe this will too? I don't know, but again, I'm willing to trust those in charge before condemning them as failures on slanderous rants.

I actually think Murphy agrees, and that's why he's only helping with Head Coach because he's been through the process before and realizes how important it is to get it right. Based on all the interviews we're having and requesting, I think we're on the right track. At least, outside looking in anyhow.

But I just can't understand why this is so dang personal to him, that he's blaming Gute and MM actions on Murphy, and basically saying our team is basically going to be crap... all because Gute can't directly fire Ball and MM? ... hell he just indirectly fired MM.... and he's said to be having a big influence on the new head coach....

Not that much has seemed to change....

Buckeye doesn't care if what he is saying is factual or not, he is going to blame Murphy for everything because he made up his own mind about it, even though the rest of us can see it is ridiculous. No point in arguing it further, let him believe his own lies

Instead he did what he did!

I'll phrase it like that so as not to be accused of false statements.

I have read here year after year how The Packers have wasted Aaron Rodgers career by not making the right moves.

Mark Murphy had been around for many of those years and NEVER have I read where he was part of the blame.
Why not?

Murphy all of a sudden decides he knows what's best for The Packer organization, wants to get involved on the personal side of things, a move I don't agree with, and I get lambasted.

I know what I see.

The Packer organization has went backwards in a big way after this past year, and yes I'm blaming Mark Murphy, because he was the one making the decisions!

Tell me I'm wrong.

We will see.

These problems weren’t made overnight and wont be solved overnight.
I am very happy with the changes over the last 18 or so months.
This organization rested on its laurels for too long. You have to deconstruct before you can reconstruct
If you want to fault Murphy, its that he waited to long to put change/pressure on Ted Thompson and MM.
