This whole coaching search thing has me on edge which is something I didn't expect at the time McCarthy was fired.
The more I read about this, the more on edge I get.
Having been through all the coaching changes during the 70's and 80's and knowing how badly that all went, I'm not feeling very good about the coaching upheaval that we are looking in the face.

I have the best candidate that no one is talking about and he comes from a great team. He is a qb guru seeing he is the qb coach for the Saints. Yes I am talking about Joesph Phillip Lombardi 🙂 Could you imagine how great that would be, the Green Bay Packers coached by a Lombardi again.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

The best college Head Coaches won't even interview until their seasons are over with. Those from the pro ranks have already started the interview process. We can say we like this guy or that fellow, but we don't get to make the decision. GB's next Head Coach will I believe be qualified, but even I don't have a crystal ball.

Interim coach Joe Philbin will receive a head-coach interview, but it would be a surprise if he received the full-time job. Instead, expect the Packers to conduct a wide-ranging search with perhaps 10-12 candidates, then bring in three or so for final interviews. One coach they are expected to target is Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald, sources say. Packers CEO Mark Murphy actually hired Fitzgerald when Murphy was AD at Northwestern. While Fitzgerald has shut down countless interview requests from the NFL in the past, with a good sales pitch, this one may work. Josh McDaniels, who has already built a relationship with GM Brian Gutekunst and is open to the right job, would be another possible candidate here. They've already interviewed Jim Caldwell and Chuck Pagano.

Ian Rapoport wrote:

Apparently, Josh McDaniels was on Gutekunst's short list when Gutekunst was one of the frontrunners for the 49ers GM job. I don't see it happening, but it would be quite the coup if Murphy and Gutekunst managed to bring in McDaniels as the new head coach with Fitzgerald as his offensive coordinator. Or maybe vice versa, given that if history is any indication, McDaniels is better suited to the OC role than the head coaching job. I would think that would represent something of a win-win for the leadership team.

I don’t think any of us are eagerly awaiting the Lincoln Riley era

Unfortunately, we will never know because even if Aaron's facemask is aimed one direction, he could be trying to look a Safety off and looking the other way.
