Something stuck out while watching Joe Philbin's first press conference. He was asked if he was coaching to become the Packers next head coach. I'm not sure I phrased it 100% accurate, that was the gist though. His response was he was focusing on the final four games. Some other comments he's said got me wondering ... does he even want to be head coach of the Green Bay Packers?

It's his only chance ever to be The Man again at the level. So he's always gonna be saying the right things.

This is the way I look at it.

The Packers show they want to play for Philbin, doesn't matter if they win out,( that would be nice ), I say sign him to a 3 year deal, with a 4th year club option.

Right now I don't see anyone who is going to be the next long term coach.

I would really like to see Murphy give Guttekunst the total power over the team, if not , fire his ass(Murphy).

The Packers have lost too many really good evaluaters the last few years.

Change can be good, but since Murphy screwed around for almost a full year doing this, it is time to stabalize the organization, then reevaluate after next year.

Who knows, even bellichek was fired once!

Perhaps this will change ... even thou I wasnt impressed with how philbin did in Miami; again be better to take someone the team likes and knows the packers then some random (unless that random looks really good).

Btw I was upset last year about the loss of capers ... I really like what petinie has done this year. Especially given the injuries. Hats off to him. Our secondary is actually decent. Same with our LBs and our front line well (be better with daniels :)

I suspect in 2-3 years Brian will be "promoted" with a new title that gives him complete control over football operations.
