there is something (or should be something) special about a locker room. Outsiders don't belong.

We had an expression both in high and college for our locker room:
What you say here, what you hear here
Let it stay here, when you leave here

No reporters, agents, family or anyone else. Players, coaches and staff only.

I think it’s all about the reporters wanting to get the “scoop”.
I think they should have a separate room, where ALL of the players and coaches would be required to attend after they have showered and changed. Maybe make it a 20 minute time to ask the questions.
That would give the media their shot, and keep the locker room sacred ground, not to be open to anyone not working for the team.
