To be frank, I think one of the things our personnel people should be looking at is the 'motor' within prospective players...how bad to they want it. I wonder whether or not that was examined pre-draft. I sure hope it is now.

I've mentioned this in the past, but it bears repeating here: One of the reasons Matt Millen passed on JaMarcus Russell -- and why he called Al Davis to urge him to pass on JaMarcus Russell -- was that he got the impression from predraft interviews that he was not disciplined or interested enough in the game to be worth taking a chance on. And of course, it turned out his fears were more than justified. So I imagine that's always part of the calculus when evaluating a prospect, at least in well-run organizations.

But physical talent without passion is as good as a lack of physical talent and no passion, in the long run. Unless one someone finds passion along the way, which I guess is possible, but perhaps unlikely.

2 types of passion. 1. Passionate about something and make it your career forever. 2. Somehow end in a job/career and become passionate about making the most of it and becoming as successful as possible in said job/career while you are in it but maybe or maybe not stay forever.

I'm currently at number 2, maybe raji was too. Both are perfectly fine in my book.

beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
