The Great Whitewater Hope is taking his first step back to the active roster. The Green Bay Packers ’ wide receiver position has been in quite the state of flux this season. The one constant has been Davante Adams , who is on pace for over 1,500 yards in 2018. However, the group of players behind him has been struck by injuries and features plenty of youth, so no single individual has stepped up as a consistent complementary threat.
The Packers have one receiver on injured reserve — Geronimo Allison  — and another in Randall Cobb  who is dealing with a nagging hamstring injury that has kept him out of several games. Prior to last week’s game in Seattle, the Packers activated Trevor Davis  from injured reserve, but Davis  is primarily a return specialist and is not expected to contribute much, if anything, on offense. That leaves a trio of rookies to pick up the slack, with Marquez Valdes-Scantling , Equanimeous St. Brown , and J’Mon Moore  getting the opportunities in order from most to least.
On Wednesday, however, the Packers took the first step at bringing another player into that mix. Jake Kumerow , who led the Packers in receiving in the 2018 preseason, is on injured reserve, but he practiced with the team on Wednesday. This means that Kumerow  is officially the second and final Packers player who is designated for return from injured reserve this season.
Kumerow  went on IR after final cuts but prior to the Packers’ week one game, making him eligible for the return designation. He suffered a self-inflicted shoulder injury after leaping into the end zone during the Packers’ second preseason game, but ended up with 190 receiving yards and two touchdowns, both of which led the team over the entire exhibition season. He could be activated any time, since eight games have passed since he went on the reserve list.
As for how Kumerow would fit into the lineup, that much remains very much uncertain. The Packers have leaned on Valdes-Scantling  as the team’s second outside receiver and a primary deep threat with Allison  out, and St. Brown  has spent significant time in the slot when Cobb  has been unavailable. Cobb may also return on Sunday against Minnesota to take back some of those snaps. It is entirely possible that once Kumerow is active, he may only land ahead of Moore  and Davis on the receiver depth chart. The other possibility is that the team sees him having value on special teams as a gunner on coverage units.
Kumerow has never suited up in an NFL game yet in his career, having spent most of his time in the league on various practice squads. Still, keep an eye out to see if and when Kumerow returns to active status to make his debut.

Does this mean they are conceding the season and taking a look at the JV?

Maybe they're gonna IR Cobb.

I don't think Kumerow is great, but his route running and chemistry was a lot better than the rookies and I think lack of developed/talented WRs have cost us a couple of games, as Rodgers has become overly used to it and doesn't know how to play small ball and hit the check down guy.

They brought Davis back 1st because they needed help on the return teams.

Graham has broken thumb, Cobb still not right.

Not sure if they would IR either if them, so Kumero may not be activated this week.

Not really sure who else at another position is replaceable right now

We'll all probably know by Sunday

He sure looked good in preseason.
If he can help, then it’s good.
I’m glad they waited till he was 100% healed.

I really don't think we will see Cobb back next year. Even JG is starting to look doubtful. If we can get a good look at what we have in Kumerow in non-preseason action why not do it? I saw somebody who looked like he had Aaron's trust and confidence. Let's see that against the competition's #1 Defense.
