Green Bay is down to just two true centers.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky , the Green Bay Packers  decided to waive offensive lineman Jake Hanson on Tuesday. Hanson has been battling a shin injury and was given an injury designation.

With Hanson’s injury designation, this leaves the door open for his return to the team at a later date. When players are injured, teams have the option to place a player on the injured reserve or waive with an injury designation. If Hanson were to be placed on the injured reserve before the 53-man roster cutdown, he would be unable to be activated during the regular season. Should Hanson pass through waivers, he would be allowed to re-sign with the Packers once he’s recovered from his shin injury.

Hanson was one of three centers on the Packers’ roster, along with presumed starter Josh Myers and James Empey — who was claimed off of waivers in July. Empey was working as the second-team center on Tuesday, but it’s likely that someone like Elgton Jenkins, Zach Tom or Jon Runyan would move over to the center position if there were ever an injury to Myers in a meaningful game.

From a roster construction standpoint, the team might only keep one center on their initial 53-man roster. It’s something we’ve discussed at APC before, including in our recent article covering the position battles that are unsettled going into the Packers’ final preseason game .

Waiving Hanson was a corresponding roster move to Green Bay signing cornerback Elijah Hamilton and inside linebacker Marvin Pierre on Monday . To make room for Hamilton and Pierre, the team let go of Hanson and placed tight end Tyler Davis on the injured reserve. The Davis news also came out on Monday .

Hanson was a sixth-round draft choice for the Packers back in 2020, following his college career at Oregon. He played 11 games for Green Bay, mostly featured on the field goal protection team aside from a Week 1 start against the Minnesota Vikings  last season.

I'd waive him with a shit suckage designation.

Shin injury
I've had those. You round the corner of your bed or a piece of other furniture in the dark and bang your shin. It's awful, not quite as bad as stubbing a toe or toes...maybe we put Royce on a stubbed toe injury designation while we're at it.
Look, I've read the accounts that he has improved...
They all have, supposedly. Everybody is great until it counts.

He had his shot, and along with Newman, cost us games. No one can convince me otherwise. Hit the trail, Hanson. Go play back up for the Texans or some shit.

Murphy should march into Gute's office and confiscate his coffee machine. He only gets it back when we have a decent center.

wpr (19h) : Beast I never said Henderson was the salt of the earth. Nor even that he was correct. Just quoting the guy.
Zero2Cool (21h) : What did you do??
Zero2Cool (21h) : Whoa
beast (21h) : OMG the website is now all white, even some white on white text
beast (22h) : Henderson, who admits to taking cocaine during the Super Bowl against the Steelers, might dislike Bradshaw as he lost two Superbowls to him

Zero2Cool (28-May) : LaFleur on Watson: “Christian is doing outstanding. I would say he’s ahead of schedule.”
Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : He wad all butt hurt because Aaron duped the media saying he was immunized.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : Bradshaw needs to retire. He's been ripping on Rodgers ever since the covid crap. He was all hury
Zero2Cool (28-May) : Terry Bradshaw doesn't want Rodgers in Pittsburgh lol wow
Zero2Cool (27-May) : one day contract, which he also feels is pointless, but if Packers came to him, he would

Zero2Cool (19-May) : Packers have signed first-round pick Matthew Golden, leaving second-round tackle Anthony Belton as their only unsigned draft pick
beast (19-May) : Supposedly he has to take his image, and name off of it... but otherwise could keep selling wine if he wanted to.
Zero2Cool (19-May) : he giving up his win business?
beast (19-May) : Speaking of Woodson, sounds like he'll be a minority owner (0.1%) of the Browns
Mucky Tundra (15-May) : Zero, regarding Woodson, that'd why I find the timing with Williams peculiar
dfosterf (15-May) : Ryan Hall y'all does a great job of tracking thesr
