Yeah, he's one of the greatest QBs of all time. A guy whose numbers are off the charts when he scrambles. So why don't we tell him not to do the very thing that has made him so successful. Tell him to stay anchored in the pocket and get blasted by the defense. 🙄


Keep in mind the Packers OL has been highly rated in large part because Aaron can avoid the pressure and get outside and find the open receiver.

NFL research crunched the numbers and they have calculated Rodgers has more passing yards outside the pocket than the rest of the NFL combined. Rodgers has thrown for 223 yards outside the pocket while the rest of the NFL has thrown for 174 yards.

It's very rare to see a quarterback play better while throwing on the run or outside the pocket. But Rodgers thrives when he's on the run which makes him dangerous. And with the Packers playing at the Georgia Dome on Sunday vs. the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship, Rodgers is expected to do even more damage outside the pocket against the Falcons defense.

I would argue he is better when he stays in the pocket and gets the ball out.

You want a QB who will drop back and throw the ball within 2.5 seconds (or whatever your magic number is) but that only works to a point. If no one is open do you expect him to throw the ball anyway either to a covered WR or throw it away.

Everyone who says great things about Aaron Rodgers says the same thing. Part of what makes Aaron Rodgers so great is his ability to extend plays with his pocket sense and ability to run. I'm not sure how you can argue that staying in the pocket and abandoning part of what makes him great will make him better.
