So far, it's two firsts, but it's believed to be more. I think Mack would have been better for the Packers than the Bears. He's 27 and is gonna garner a large contract. That's not exactly ideal for a rebuilding team, then again, I suppose one could argue the Packers did just that in '93 with 92.

Three years of paying HUGE money, then a decline.

I agree I dont see how he is worth 2 first rounds and a huge contract ... good for us 🙂 but then again we just paid for rodgers the highest paid guy in history - I just hope he plays as good as his past numbers as his paycheck suggest.

You know an NFL general manager likes to be in bed early on Thursday nights when he's willing to trade away not just one, but two first-round picks.

And it's gonna be even worse if someone else does.

Nothing makes me want GB to have acquired Mack than to see him go to the bares. Now I am left hoping they squandered their picks and money. I know it's petty.

What you are feeling is natural. I hope they squandered their money as well. The thing is even if Mack turns out to be all he is supposed to be it may not help them in the long run. This year, sure since he is a plug and play but when his cap space and lack of first rounders come into play over the next few years they may be hoping he is the one man wrecking crew because they have no other men around him.

Just to put it in perspective as to what was given up. The Bears gave up 2 first rounders and a player (rumored) For those who WILL say we should have given them our 2 first and Matthews. Maybe they wouldn't want Matthews depending who the bears player is maybe he is better or they wanted him more. What we offer has to be what they accept. My guess is the lynch pin in the deal was the 2 first rounders and even with Mack I would expect the Bears next two picks to be higher than the Packers two picks in 2019 or even if they split it into 1 each in 2019 and 2020.

The Bottom line is if the Bears gave up 2 first rounders and a player the Packers would have had to give up more and no one knows how much more.

The Raiders had to get AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to even think of entertaining a trade. Yes, I firmly believe Green Bay on the table with their two first round picks, but let's look at reality here:

Would you rather take picks from the Packers and Saints knowing they're gonna make the playoffs, or would you rather take advantage of Chicago salivating over one player so much (MitchLOL Trubisky) that they traded a third of their draft last year and are virtually guaranteed to have Top 10 picks in the first round over the next three years?

Even Gruden isn't that stupid. Chicago is easily the worst team in the division, and acquiring Mack barely makes them better than Detroit.

The bears are gonna suck with Mack just like they sucked with Julius Peppers, because they don't have a QB.

I think this was bad move for the bears and would have been a bad move (in the long term) for the packers too. 2 firsts and a 20m + a year contract seems like what you would give up for a mid-level starting quarterback. It seems too high for any defensive player outside a Reggie White or Lawrence Taylor level player. Mack is certainly good, but I don't think he's Reggie White/LT.

I agree with all the previous posts about it being a short term bad move for the Bears, esp. without a proven quarterback. Nevertheless, it does give them one helluva pass rush.

Perhaps we should be looking more at our offensive line. The right tackle situation was not that great to begin with and if BB is not ready to start, we could have a difficult situation keeping our $150 million man upright and healthy. Further, his propensity for injury does not leave me with the warm and fuzzy’s about our depth.

I am stumped on why everyone is saying the Bears will be bottom feeders? They made plenty of moves in the off season and to me they will have a tough defense. We still have a weak defense and one qb hit away from getting the #1 overall pick. Rodgers has been injury prone the last few years and I still say it was a huge mistake to sign him to the huge contract. Make him play out his contract and most of all show me he is past his injury.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
