This was discussed a little in the shout (Credit to Nonstopdrivel for initiating the discussion)

IMO, the Packers will draft a QB in the first round of the draft. I would not be surprised if they pick up Rosen. This will indicate that they cannot afford what Rodgers is asking for under a new contract (or what the players union is pressuring Rogers to ask for).

As it stands, the Packers have zero leverage to request a lower offer from Rogers. Hundley is a bust and, for some reason, we have a Cleveland Brown dropout QB on our roster. A talented QB picked up in the 1st round will mitigate substantial risk for the Packer's future in terms of preparing for the post Aaron Rodgers era and prevent us from breaking the bank on AR's contract. Also, the Packers better be thinking about and evaluating the possibility that Aaron Rodgers may never get back to 100% after last year's collar bone break. The game against the Panthers is the only data that we have and it does not look good.

A new QB in 2018 will have a year to develop under a HOF QB and will probably get better help than Brent gave AR. Worst case in this scenario is they resign Aaron Rodgers and the Pack lost out on picking up other talent in the first round; no worse than a Justin Harrell type draft.

The Packers have Aaron Rodgers for 2 more years and they can franchise him for at least 1 more after that so IMO it makes no sense to take a QB now. Especially when your draft position has put you in a place to get a potential difference maker at #14.

Your conspiracy theory is interesting but Aaron Rodgers is the one with no leverage here. I highly doubt he will sit out and give up 20 million dollars a year for the next three years.

They have plenty of time to get a potential replacement if in fact they want to move in that direction so I hope they don't watse the #14 pick on a QB.

I have been saying the last 2 seasons to trade Rodgers and get what you can get. I am also saying draft a qb because a new gm usually gets his qb and his HC. I would love Josh Allen in Green Bay
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Do you really think that Gute is going to make a move that stamps an early date for the end of the Aaron Rodgers era? I don't.
The only way I could see this is if the Packers are already about 98% sure they are not going to be able to sign Aaron Rodgers to anything close to what the number should be.

I heard the rumor also about even trading UP for Rosen. Really? This team is only borderline capable of making a run WITH Aaron Rodgers and he can only take them so far. So isn't preparing for the post Rodgers era putting the cart in front of the horse? What good does that do if you don't have a good football team around the QB? There's a good 3 or four teams in the NFC with more talent then the Packers. Rodgers makes up for a good bit of that but regardless Gute needs to be building a more talented team around whoever plays QB.
The last few years while we have been floating along not getting a whole lot worse or a whole lot better teams like Philly,Minny, New Orleans, have gotten a whole lot better and well rounded. I just don't think it's the right time to worry about who the hell the next QB is going to be.

Seriously, can you imagine what this state would be like if Rodgers was traded? There would be numerous calls for the GM’s head.

When Favre was here unretiring/retiring and trying to dictate terms I could see why they wanted to start moving on. Rodgers although he's created a couple of off-season headlines is mostly very positive of the organization and still does a great job representing the face of it.

Many fans backed the Packers during the succession because they saw it was the right move, you'd have a much harder go around with it this time.

Fuck this idea. Also, whatever stupid fucking team drafts josh Allen deserves all the bottom dwelling years they get after that. Terrible QB in college is a terrible QB in the NFL, these "experts" are way over thinking this shit. Simple math. Draft defense.

As I stated previously, I'm in favor of this scenario if one of the top 5 rated QB's drop to 14.
I'm not in favor of extending Rodgers to a 30 + million a year contract when he still has 2 years left on his current contract.

Please stop this moronic post , the packers aren’t getting rid of the best player in the nfl , theres no way in hell to get Rosen as he will be taken in the first 4-5 picks, Aaron wants to play until he’s close to 40 if he’s able, they have 2 capable backups, even though if Aaron goes it would be almost impossible to make a playoff run, that goes for about 75% of all teams !!

Martha Careful (18h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (18h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Rude!
beast (22h) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
