Well, I didn't mean to dog Zero's Fast and Furious. If you guys like it, more power to you. I just meant that it's not my thing. I'm not dogging it by any means.

So here are two movies I liked that I seen recently.

Miracle at St Anna - A Spike Lee movie. No, I'm no fan of Spike Lee by any means. I think his movies generally are too preachy and overrated. But this one was an exception. It has preachy moments but they're actually warranted in this one.

What was good about it...
Characters were well done. You didn't have the clear protagonist, and all the characters, good and bad, were well-developed.

Scenery was splendid. Italian countryside.

That one Italian actress was hot. And we got to see a lot of her. Extra bonus.

I gave it a 9 out of 10. Rotten Tomatoes hated it but they suck and have bad taste. Go see this one, it's pretty good.

Traitor
- Don Shealde steals the show in this one. It's about a guy infiltrating a terrorist organization (Shealde) and keeps you guessing if he's crossed the line and actually become a terrorist or if he's still loyal to us. Characters developed well, and you actually end up liking one of the terrorists and wish he'd see the light. Plus, you'll also see that not everything we do on our end is good.

Has some good tricks and it's a movie that I wasn't able to predict. I usually sit through movies and drive everyone else nuts because I'll tell you what will happen ahead of time and I'm 99% of the time right. Well, I was about 50% right in this one.

I've also seen a lot of pretty bad movies but I won't waste words on them. These were 2 movies that recently became available for rental that were good.

Idk, I like all kinds of movies and I'm pretty bad at reviewing them.

Let me just put down that I really liked BASEketball. Still my favorite movie.

An 'unknown' movie I liked was Swindle. It's a movie, kind off in the style of the GTA 2 opening trailer.

"Watchmen"........SUCKED!!!!

Gran Torino...........LOVED it!
I know it was discussed already, but i really enjoyed that movie. The ONLY thing that i didn't like was the closeup's of Clint Eastwood, where he would give his "angry" groan and look. He's too old to pull that off now. Plus, with the acting he did throughout the movie, it wasn't necessary. You KNEW how he felt, without the "closeups".

Miracle at St. Anna is a bit overrated in your review. Its not a 9/10 caliber movie. It was kind of a fairy tail-ish type movie. Or atleast I felt that way. The war aspects were well done. But the rest of the story was off in la la land.

I want to see The Spirit. I'm kind of a fan of Frank Miller's vision.

Taken on a big screen is a good waste of 10.00. This was one of the few movies i have seen lately that kept my focus for the entire film. Some parts are a stretch but it is action packed start to end.

I just got around to seeing a movie I had been avoiding. I'd seen parts of it here and there, but thought it was just a crappy flick from what I had seen. I sat down a few days ago and started watching it out of mostly boredom. The movie is "300".

It's still a stupid friggin' flick, but I absolutely loved it. The Spartans do not play. They quit school because they got recess there.

I wish we had a line like they got. I'd settle for it on either side of the line of scrimmage.

I liked it too.

What made the movie so good was not just Clint, but the surrounding cast as well. The young priest did such a good job with his role, providing a nice contrast to Walt.

While the overall message is very serious, the were moments I could not stop laughing. I don't know where they found Walt's birthday phone, but it was absolutely perfect. The humor made Gran Torino much, much better than if it was serious the entire way.

Kudos to Clint Eastwood for producing yet another quality film.

Gran Torino....loved it. Not only did I have a Gran Torino several years back, but now that I'm a senior citizen I can act like Clint and sometimes get away with it.

I'm waiting for Gran Tarino to make it to Redbox. Should be any week now. Really want to see it.

As for Miracle at St Anna, maybe that's why I liked it. Yeah, it was fairy taleish. But to me that gave it a lot of charm.

Love 300.

I completely forgot to mention Taken. I actually saw this one on a big screen. I like that main actor. Forgot his name, but when he started kicking some tail, it was awesome.

I'll have to look up Swindle. Never heard of it.

VERY true! The cast was a PERFECT fit for the movie! One of the Hmong actors is from Wisconsin. (I can't remember which) and they interviewed him. He kept saying how nice of a guy Clint Eastwood is.
Oh....and i laughed ALOT in the movie too!!! It had EVERY emotion in it, which i think made it such a great flick. I was more "real" then made up. You see that in America all the time. Old people that have lived in a area for 40 or 50 years, and the surrounding homes bought up by young people of different races. My old neighborhood on the south side of Milwaukee is now mostly latino when i drive through there. Back when i was a kid, we had 2 black kids in our junior high school.....and they were brothers. Everyone else was white. I WISH there could have been more of a mix back then.......maybe we wouldn't have the race problems we do now.

That really does sound like a very good movie. Maybe I should go see it aswell, at least, if it's a movie for 'my age' aswell.

I used to hate the Clint westerns, although I liked movies like Kelly's Heroes. He's quite an actor though and the movie did look pretty good in the trailers, although I couldn't really make anything out of it. They where quite unclear here.

Seriously, I watching this movie about 3 or 4 times in the theaters. And every single time, I wanted to jack the first person that looked at me wrong in the jaw so hard his freaking teeth shattered. You are correct, the Spartans do not mess around. I love the opening with Leonidus before he kicks the messenger and his friends into the pit of doom.. Also, when he asks the Spartans what their profession was. Awesome, awesome movie.

Taken's main actor is Liam Neeson. Irish born. I heard someone mention how they hated his American accent in the movie, and to be honest, I didn't notice any bad 'American accent'.

And to add my 'Recent Movies'

I just watched it last night, so I have to throw 'Kung Fu Panda' in the mix first. Such a classically hilarious movie. Then again, I love cartoons and Disney flicks, so this was a given for me. Jack Black was HILARIOUS throug out the movie. You know it was good when my wife thought it was funny (she doesn't have the same type of humor as I do).

'Race to Witch Mountain' was a fairly good movie, as well. I remember seeing the original as a kid, but don't remember much details. So this was a nice 'throwback' for me. My wife LOVED it. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, again was awesome. This is a movie you could probably take the family to and everyone enjoy it. But, if you aren't into Disney feature films like this, I don't recommend it.

I liked Traitor as well.

I also liked Open Range. It was made in I think the early 00's and I rented it like a month ago and really enjoyed it. It's a very good Western.

I recently saw this movie, found it to be very good and it touched my soul.

"Taking Chance" is based on a real-life event.....
In April 2004, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl, USMC, came across the name of 19-year-old Lance Corporal Chance Phelps, a young Marine who had been killed by hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Strobl, a Desert Storm veteran with 17 years of military service, requested that he be assigned for military escort duty to accompany Chance's remains to his family in Dubois, Wyo.

When one falls, another brings him home.

I watched "3:10 to Yuma" last night.

My wife doesn't like westerns but even she enjoyed it.

Maybe it was something to do with having Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in it!!!
