I'd like to see the Packers resign Richard Rodgers (2yr/4mil), draft a TE or two with some of those middle/late round picks they've stockpiled and call it at day. They have other needs elsewhere to address.

I know Graham is no Gronkowski but he provides a red zone threat that is badly needed. Tbh that was really what Jordy was living on last year (with Rodgers) was his ability to get open in the red zone where top end speed doesn't matter. If Graham replaces Jordy in ANY regard it should be this.

The best part of Graham signing is its another mismatch player the Packers can use to identify defense packages and exploit linebackers. Imagine when the Packers line up in a run formation then split Graham + Montgomery out wide. Rodgers is going to instantly see if its man or zone, identify the rushers etc.

It the meta offense this move provides more than what you're saying Barfan.

Nelson completely fell off the chart because the new QB couldn't or wouldn't throw the ball more than 5 yards down the field and with Cobb and Adams being assigned most of the short routes (because they're quicker than Nelson) the new QB wouldn't throw it Nelson way even when he got open.

Also I fixed your statement about Graham... I don't think it's correct to simply call him a tightend period because that's how the Seahawks used him and asked him to block a lot at times and clearly that didn't work so well.

Jordy Nelson wasn't being thrown the ball because he wasn't getting open. I liked Jordy a lot. But, time caught up with him. I hope he has a great post-Packers life/career, but I'm OK with the move. Aaron Rodgers makes WR's and we can't shell out that kind of money for that production.

That kind of money, I'm talking about paying your WR1, WR2 and WR3 all over $10 million each. Something had to give. We fans knew this. We expected it. Shit, we were talking about one being cut anyway and expected it to be Jordy cuz of age, injuries, etc.

Are Packers fans happy Jordy Nelson is almost 33, coming off another season where he was dinged up just after coming back from ACL, and isn't going to cost $10 against the cap? Probably not, most Packers fans are smart enough to know this is a business and shit happens.

Extending a soon-to-be 33 year old WR who's absolutely not the same as he was just few years ago is stupid. Packers fans would be PISSED off about that. Packers fans want Super Bowl rings, not Division titles.

Yes, losing Jordy stings, it sucks, I don't like it, but sure as hell won't condemn the Packers front office for doing what they feel is (and I agree) best for the Packers moving forward.

Jordy Nelson is going to get (guessing here) $5 this season with incentives to make more. If we want to FIX our defense, we need that money allocated elsewhere. Remember, we have Aaron Rodgers, who makes WR2's look like WR1's.

Also, keep in mind once Rodgers went down, Nelson DISAPPEARED! Davante Adams still lit it up, Randall Cobb even had a few good games. Nelson just completely fell off the chart.

As for TE Jimmy Graham, he is a tight end, period.

I'm ok with it.
What I'm not ok with is using that as an excuse to dump Jordy.
When I see Jimmy Graham lining up in a tight formation, taking on a DE or picking up a blitzing LB , helping in the run game, then I will call him a TE.
6'7 - 255 lbs. Doesn't make him a TE.
Hell All The Packer wr's block more than Graham ever has.
Jordy got thrown under the bus by the new GM.
He had better be right.
Please explain how paying Graham 30mil for 3 years helps to free up more cap space to use on defense?

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Say it with me everyone! Jimmy Graham is NOT a WR!

Graham is TE.

I've explained what we need from a TE, and what we would want. Rodgers can make WR look better, easier than he can make WR look better. (assumption there) ... or maybe they feel the current slew or WR on the roster can very adequately get the job done whereas the TE group cannot.

It wasn't a great fit for the Seahawks and they lost an offensive lineman that was actually good in the deal.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 ๐Ÿ˜”
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress

Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier

Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
