Some folks are saying John Dorsey of Browns will try to get Eliot Wolf. The Packers don't have to let him go.

I say do a trade!

Browns get Eliot Wolf and our 14th overall.
Packers get 4th overall and 33rd overall.

What do you want the Packers to get in compensation for Wolf? (assuming Wolf wants to join Browns)

I don't think we'll get much of anything for Wolf, they're hiring him as a head scout/personnel manager I doubt they'd pay much for a non-GM.

This makes no sense to me from Eliot's position. It's a lateral move to an organization with a newly hired GM. He'd be sitting just as long there as he would be here. If anything, it's more of a risk considering the turnover of personnel groups in Cleveland recently.

Heretofore I haven't read any reports about this and I see this more as easy connect-the-dots speculation.

People seem to always leave out one thing when it comes to going to another team and that was how you were treated. Wolf was brought along all this time to be TT's successor and bam slapped in the face again. Could we see another staff member wanting to go to a place where they can be trusted.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I don't think it was disrespectful or a "slap in the face" for them to go with Gute instead. It was a competition for a job and he lost out to a very respected football guy, big deal. How is that being treated badly? I wouldn't blame him though if he did leave to a new team because I think it would help him be taken more seriously around the league since being in GB it's hard to look at him as anything but being there just because of his dad.

After the head coach pulled rank on the "Team President" and the "Team President" knuckled under, hell I'd get off a sinking ship too.

Brian Gutekunst indicated he would be open to doing the same for Wolf, but he badly wants the Packers' director-football operations to stay.

“I would envision him kind of being a right-hand man to me,” Gutekunst said. “We have a great relationship. I’m very fond of the person, and the scout is excellent. I’ve told him that. I really want him to be here. But I also know he has other opportunities, and I wouldn’t hold him back from that, because I care about him.

“But if he was here, I’d like to get him more involved in the college side of stuff, and have a more broader approach to what he’s been doing.”

Wolf is 35 years old. The guy is barely old enough to be the President of the United States. Gutie signed a 5-year deal. Why should we care when we already made a decision?

If he leaves, so be it. If he stays, we're all better for it. Whether or not it happens, we'll still be in a "one or the other" situation, and I don't think anybody really went wrong here.

Picture the case, Elliot Wolf goes to work for The Browns. He, at some point, becomes their GM. He over the course of 5 years is solidly recognised as the largest factor that Cleveland wins their first SB Trophy.

In that same time period, GB continues to win their Division and loose in the Playoffs. Many continue to puzzle over just why this is so. [confused]

I think it's indisputable any team, and esp. The Packers need to rely most on D&D so that's where you need your front office talent, and from what I read Eliot was more in the pro personnel the past few years, so that gives me an ounce of comfort...but we're still possibly seeing 40 years of experience go to Cleveland in a week.

Now wolf has an offer from the raiders. It's one thing to let wolf go if that is what he wants, but it is a whole other thing to tell the whole league that we won't stop him from going. Let the offers poor in. Stupid thing to do if they legitimately wanted to keep him. Makes me question the validity of that statement. But I'm not uffda, so I'll leave it at that.
