Question.. if we offer the same deal to Williams would it be fair.

Both are about the same in terms of age and experience.. Bush plays well on special teams, Williams is more advanced on defense.

This signing could help us in the long run.. maybe a point of reference for Tramon.

Sure but he has this year of exclusive to run through and then a couple more if the CBA expires.. so in reality this might be about middle of the road for both the Packers and Tramon.. a fair market deal of sorts.

Probably not going to happen, but I think it would be fair to both parties with all circumstances considered.

Have to strongly disagree with your statement about Bush on special teams , from the year end numbers and I quote "The Packers led the NFL in penalty yardage with 984 after finishing second last year with 1,006. They had the second-most penalties with 110 after last year being penalized 113 times, which ranked fourth.

One of the worst offenders was Bush, whose six penalties were three times more than anyone else on special teams and the most by a special-teams player in Green Bay in more than 20 years. In all, the special teams drew 25 penalties, most since 2000."

Worst special teams player in twenty years....bad move by Ted Thompson period.

ya if anything we should of paid the titans that money to take bush
ya I really enjoyed all the penalty yards last year ... heck we change the penalties in the game and we win some football games next year.

How many times did we have to go 3rd and long because of that.

So do you judge a special teams player based on how many times they get penalized? Do you consider Flozel Adams (LT-Cowboys) one of the worst LT in the league?

A little insight to the matched offer:

It's not wasted money because he's not getting much and he's the best gunner GB has. I think it seems reasonable for a player of his stature. He gets a bad rap because he didn't fall on the fumble against the Giants. He's not a big time nickel back or dime back, but he's a good special teams player and GB can't let their special teams fall apart anymore than it already has.

If it weren't for the fact that we're considerably in the black in terms of cap space, I would be quite upset. However, I still expect Bush to play above his performance level of the past few years.

I couldn't wait to log on here after I read that they matched the offer. Like it or not, he's a good ST gunner. I would've predicted a downgrade on ST coverage if he left.

If our coverage was much worse I think the oppsing team would start every kick on our side of the field ... I swear I dont know how many times I saw the opponent have good field position while we had 80+ yards to go for the TD.

hopefully well pick up some good LB/special teams guys in the draft

Our ST was near the top of the ratings early 2008. Injuries really had a bad effect on us though, on both sides (coverage and returns).
