I wasn't thrilled about a search committee, but I found a quote I do agree with.

The mere fact that Ted is still with the team at all suggests to me that he move was by his choice. If they were forcing him out, he wouldn’t even be there.

He’s staying for a reason.

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, the extension of Mike McCarthy was necessary to attract a top DC. No one wants to work for a lame duck. For all we know Mike McCarthy was complaining for years about the groceries he was being asked to cook. I may disagree with a lot of his play designs (or lack thereof) but he seems like a stand-up guy and not a whiner.

I think last years draft was outstanding. And I strongly suspect Ted Thompson was not behind most of the decisions. Whoever it was, Wolf or Gutekunst should be making the player personnel decisions.

Also, I in addition to Fangio think they should consider Jim Leonard for DC.

Bob Mcguin broke the news The board of Directors got involved?
Probably not true !
Mcgiin is an idiot anti - Ted guy since Ted was hired.

I remember Ted Thompson extending Mike Sherman before he fired him at the end of the year.
So I'm not going to read a whole lot into the extension.
The new GM will make his decision.

Those of you who have been clamoring for change, well your time is here.

Just remember, there are consequences to every move.
Stability inside an organization from top to bottom goes a long way toward success year in year out.

Jim Leonard doesn't have the experience to be in the NFL just yet. I like him, I just think he needs more than a couple years of college coaching under his belt before being a legitimate DC in the NFL.

How do you feel about James Bettcher? I would prefer someone younger (Bettcher/Leonard) but would settle for someone who has done it well (Fangio.) Do you think Mike McCarthy is secure enough to hire his potential replacement?

Mike McCarthy was the bridge over troubled waters and nothing more. The org was worried about too much change. I've heard the word "stability". LOL. Mike McCarthy is their attempt at keeping a semblance of it.

Bob McGinn gave a look at what happened and why. It's amazing how so many dismiss this because Bob wasn't the typical organizational cheerleader and ear tickler like so many are accustomed to. A board member confirmed that Murphy was given the suggestion to move on from Ted. It was not stated as to the why, but I believe McGinn that it was for what I've been saying for a few years.

The decline was too hard to hide any longer especially with the SNF thing. I'm sure the org knew that it would happen soon that they would be forced into action.
Mike McCarthy had to be extended to give the appearance of him not being lame duck which he still is. The appearance is gone creating a more inviting environment to attract a DC. In fact, a confident DC may just feel that the job might be his next year or the year after so we might get a really good one not Darren Perry or Winston Moss.

Would love to know the exact time they decided to extend MM. It wasn't prior to the season. The bumbling Murphy said it was "weeks ago". I'm guessing this happened right after Dorsey chose Cleveland. Did Dorsey spurn Murphy in favor of Cleveland? Now, that would be a story. It might be true. Dorsey looks at the roster and sees it's better overall minus 12 and has two picks in the top 4 picks to get his QB. Plus, Dorsey may not have wanted to fire MM. I really wish we knew when this happened but my money is Mike McCarthy was extended right after Dorsey took the Browns job which not coincidentally was "weeks ago". If they thought they had Dorsey and were left holding the bag, which they very well could be, this is a nightmare scenario. Now, Highsmith is gone...Alonzo may have thought John was coming here and now that he wasn't he's going there.

There are lots of what ifs...like maybe Dorsey didn't want to step on any of the guys who waited around for Ted to retire? May have caused a lot of friction and caused guys to jump ship.

This all should've been done years ago during an offseason where it was all planned out. I smile that Barfarn says everything is just as it should be at 1265. I think all of us know that not to be true. It doesn't smell right or feel right at all because it isn't. I hope Bob can add more to this story that is truly engrossing.

Just had a chance to read Bob McGinn's full article. It's incredible. Wow.

I think people should sign up for a month just to read it. Explosive. It doesn't make the org look good especially Mark Murphy.

Bob can write things Packers media can't/won't. Bob lives in no fear of repercussions and it allows truth to be told.

1265 is more screwed up than anyone thought.

Zero2Cool (2h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (2h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (2h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (3h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (3h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (3h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (3h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (3h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (3h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (3h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (3h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (3h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (3h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (3h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (3h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (3h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (3h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (4h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (4h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (5h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (7h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (7h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (17h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (17h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (20h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
