I see a lot of people, both here and elsewhere on the internet often making comments to other people about how they just parrot back what [insert media outlet/leftwing/talk radio/etc here] tells them about particular issues. While there's definitely people that do that, at a certain point it relies on an assumption that people only consume media that they agree with.

I can't speak for everyone else, but most of the people I know and speak to consume MOST of their media from political outlets that are aligned with their views, but also consume media from sources that they're otherwise not aligned with to get a different/competing perspective on things. Speaking for myself, I'm fiscally moderate (leaning liberal) and socially liberal. Roughly half of my media exposure is CNN (left leaning), maybe 15% on top of that is social media (generally left-leaning), and the remaining 35% or so comes from Fox News or local conservative talk radio, or national talk radio.

Without getting into political debates - what kind of media do you consume? Do you restrict yourself to one or two media outlets which you are politically aligned with, or do you expose yourself to competing viewpoints? Why?

I really don't trust the media (left or right) to do the right thing. They will do and say whatever they need to do in order to maximize profits.
Commentators/journalists/reporters will do whatever they have to do in order to get the promotion onto the bigger stage.

I jump around and see what different outlets say. Sometimes it is CNN. Sometimes ABC. Washington Post. NY Times. LA Times. Chi Tribune. Only on occasion do I drop by Fox. I even like going to the BBC or Jerusalem Post.

I've never been a person who watches fox new even though I agree with most of what they air. I've always looked at liberal, media primarily national broadcasts and CNN. I get a little talk radio on my commutes when the sports talk is boring. I know what I believe and don't need to watch channels or shows that agree with me, I'd rather look at different views so when I am done and I still have the same views it just tells me that what I believe is right.

Since Trump has been elected and probably during the end of the election cycle that has been almost unbearable, because they are no longer talking about policy, they are just on a personal attack of Trump. It looks like Democrats don't plan on campaigning on any policy but simply character attacks. Late night shows while they have been getting worse for a while jumped on completely, Can't even watch TV after the 9:00cst shows unless I find an old rerun of Married With Children or something.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

When it comes to the Packers, Jason Wilde is one of them. He's not a fan of the Packers and has little to no emotional ties to the team, which leaves him to be somewhat objective at times, more than others. He's not writing for shock, he's writing to tell you a story, and a story as full as he can. I'm starting to like Michael Cohen too. I had begun to like Ty Dunne, then the jerk went back to Buffalo. Selfish jerk!!!

What makes me laugh is the attack on Trump about past sexual misconduct (before he came into office).
The democrats cry and scream about how terrible Trump is.......when Bill Clinton was in office, and we spoke of his "horniness", how he abused women, all I heard was "THATS HIS PERSONAL LIFE, HIS OWN BUSINESS! NOTHING TO DO ABOUT HIS PRESIDENCY!!!"
Ironic, isn't it??? And Bill was actually doing it while he was in office!
Hypocrisy, at it's finest.
Now....just so I'm clear, I am against ALL sexual misconduct, no matter WHO is doing it. I just wish it was treated equally, going after ALL that choose to use their office (job, or whatever) to abuse their power.
NAIL ALL OF THEM TO THE WALL!!!
Just make sure they are guilty. Just because someone says they did it, make sure there is enough actual proof. You can bet there are women that use that card to get what they want.
Money, power, whatever.
I don't trust ANY media. They all are out for their own good.

When I first saw this chart last year it made me laugh. Since my daughter in law posted it, for the sake of family harmony, I didn't say anything.
Where's CBS?
I question the placement on the left to right bias scale for most of the ones that are on the "neutral" scale.
I have seen some neat invention idea videos on the Wolfe sight. They may not be practical today but one day maybe they will.
MSNBC is considered "analytical"? I didn't realize that.
In the larger cities I have seen conservative newspapers in more or less liberal towns and liberal papers in conservative towns.

I have seen other ones that show Fox closer to the center line rating than several of the other media outlets.

edit:

Here is version 3.0 Fox took a bigger beating but CBS at least made the cut. ABC and NBC slid to the left a little.
My dad loved to read Newsweek. He would be disappointed that Time made the list but not his beloved Newsweek. I kinda favored US News and World Report once upon a time.
And finally- Enquirer is considered a conservative magazine?? Really? Why? Inquiring minds want to know.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”

Zero2Cool (23-Jun) : PFT claims Packers are having extension talks with Zach Tom, Quay Walker.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jun) : GB-Minnesota 2004 Wild Card game popped up on my YouTube page....UGH
beast (20-Jun) : Hmm 🤔 re-signing Walker before Tom? Sounds highly questionable to me.

Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : According to Tweeter
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : Packers are working on extension for LT Walker they hope to have done before camp

Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : one year $4m with incentives to make it up to $6m
dfosterf (18-Jun) : Or Lions
dfosterf (18-Jun) : Beats the hell out of a Vikings signing
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : Baltimore Ravens now have signed former Packers CB Jaire Alexander.
dfosterf (14-Jun) : TWO magnificent strikes for touchdowns. Lose the pennstate semigeezer non nfl backup
dfosterf (14-Jun) : There was minicamp Thursday. My man Taylor Engersma threw
dfosterf (11-Jun) : There will be a mini camp practice Thursday.
Zero2Cool (11-Jun) : He's been sporting a ring for a while now. It's probably Madonna.
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : We only do the tea before whoopee, it relaxes me.
wpr (10-Jun) : That's awesome Martha.
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : How's the ayahuasca tea he makes, Martha?
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : Turns out he like older women
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : I wasn't supposed to say anything, but yes the word is out and we are happy 😂😂😂
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : I might be late on this but Aaron Rodgers is now married
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : Well he can always ask his brother for pointers
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : Bo Melton taking some reps at CB as well as WR
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : key transactions coming today at 3pm that will consume more cap in 2025
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : Jaire played in just 34 of a possible 68 games since the start of the 2021 season
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : reported, but not expected to practice
