NFL teams are allowed 14 padded practices for entire regular season 1 per week Games 1-11 and 3 for final 5 games. These practices are limited to 3 hours and the clock runs when the players hit the field. Included is at least 30 minutes of calisthenics/stretching [They are allowed to meet with position coaches and do walk-thrus for no more than 30 minutes, which does not count against the 3 hours]. So these practices are effectively for 2 hours.
GB’s other practices are 2 hours with no contact on 3 other days in the week. To date, Hundley gets to practice with his team 8 hours/week, 2 of which are in pads. Hundley probably didn’t get any more than 30 minutes per week when Rodgers was playing. Surely, Callahan is only getting snaps when Hundley needs a break or has a tweak.
Add to this that the injury situation has NEVER been this bad. Missing games in the tip of the ice berg; EVERY SINGLE POSTION GROUP [but fullback] is decimated by injury. Linsley, Taylor, Bak, Bulaga, Nelson, Cobb, Bennett, Montgomery, Daniels, Burnett, Perry, King, House, Randall all should have missed most of the season. You guys think Daniels and Bak are playing; but the guys wearing 76 and 69 are not the guys that played the last couple of years. Not sure GB could field 22 against Pittsburgh if the criteria was a guy had to be substantially healthy.
Now because of this unprecedented injury situation Hundley is not getting anywhere near full practice time with the “starters.” EG, the last few weeks; he’s taking half of his snaps from Patrick. A young QB having half his practice time compromised by several absent convalescing starters and then playing unrehearsed with a mishmash of back-ups and the walking wounded that are not playing up to their names on the jersey; will have a profound effect on that QB’s play. Surely, you understand Hundley’s performance can be affected by the performance of others. Remember when Rodgers sucked; 4 straight loses last year because of it; and the PH Clique was making nonsensical excuses for him.
Thread after thread same unsupported drivel about Hundley sucking, seemingly oblivious to the idea that he’s not blocking for himself or catching his own passes. This begs one question: how come these same excuses for Rodgers’ are not applicable for Hundley? Some of you probably need to go deep into your psyches to figure this one out. Some maybe not so deep!
