He runs hard north and south but that's all he is... a straight line guy...no wiggle...no break away speed. Ripkowski can do the same exact thing. Rip and Williams are both solid players but pretty vanilla. He can pass block and with Bulaga not a sure thing for Week 1 facing Seattle, protection will be at an even higher premium so I'd be all for letting the pedestrian Williams do what he does best, and block for Rodgers on pass plays.

Montgomery is strong and led NFL in yards after contact for RB's if memory serves. He has shake and a break away gear. The guy was thought of to be a first round pick as a WR coming into his final season at Stanford. There is a ton to love. He just can't stay healthy and isn't likely to see that ever change so we'll be seeing one of the rooks at some point and I hope it's Aaron Jones.

On any other team I would feel confident Aaron Jones make this squad, but we do some strange things as far as how we structure our roster. Some need or perceived need to keep extra at another position concerns me about Jones' fate. I'm probably just overthinking his safety because I love the kid. By far my favorite addition to this team this off-season with Marty B.

Mays definitely has something to him. He ran some crazy times at his pro day for a guy his size. Mid 4.4's but that's hand timed so likely a mid 4.5 guy. Has a 40.5" vertical? Kevin King has a 39.5". That's ridiculous. Benched 225 22 times. In comparison, Bryan Bulaga did 26 reps. So, one crazy athletic freak is Mays. Going to be hard cutting him and getting him through to PS. Some RB needy team has to be watching what we do with him.

Overall, I'm concerned about the RB position. Montgomery is not likely to last and behind him sits a bunch of rooks and a fumble prone Ripkowski. Picking up Jamaal Charles when nobody wanted him, in hindsight, looks like a mistake by our org. If we could trade for a slug like Knile Davis from KC, I don't understand why you wouldn't take a chance on a guy with the highest YPC average for a RB since the 1950's. Perhaps, the injury fear with Montgomery already having that stigma is the reason we didn't pursue him along with not being able to catch it very well?

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Don't share your concern so much. Out of all the positions, I have some of the least concern regarding this group.
Circular Arguments: They are a heck of an annoyance

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
