The only way Ty Montgomery is going to become a three-down back for the Green Bay Packers is if he can pass protect. That's what the team is focusing on.
The post Packers Focusing On Pass Protection with Ty Montgomery appeared first on Total Packers.

Remember Brandon Jackson? 2nd round pick, iirc and his specialty was pass pro. This is what Ty has to work on, and more importantly, what Jamal Williams needs to work on. Because Williams is gonna be the bell cow.

I was reading this article a little while ago, really like the idea of bringing in Brandon Jackson to help mentor the young guys. At 31 I think he's probably a little easier for the rookies to relate to and as you said pass protection was his specialty.

Also although I like all 3 of the RBs Green Bay drafted and am excited to see who steps up, this is Ty Montgomery's backfield this year. Assuming he stays healthy he's going to get more plays/carries than all 3 rookies combined.

Pass protection was/is the primary reason that John Kuhn was replaced with Aaron Ripkowski . GB has used a FB to pass block for years . Kuhn was also known to occasionally rip off a good run as Ripkowski also does .
Training the RBs to pass block is a good thing also. It adds versatility to to the offense on 1st and 2nd Downs. It could weigh into the mix of who makes the roster and who gets cut . RBs usually have good power in their legs, so upper body strength for holding on to the football and for effective pass blocking may see the RBs building up that part of their body's in the weight room . I will be looking to here reports on who has excelled in the off season weight training program .

ALL RB's need to be able to pass protect. It keeps the defense honest.
Otherwise, if you only bring in certain guys, it tips your hand on what you are going to do.
Like, "Ty is in, they are going to run, not pass".

Always thought with Ty they would be better off having him for a dump off rather than blocking. Ty with the ball in space against a LBer. We should win that battle most of the time.

On a little swing pass to the flat as a check down/blitz breaker, we should have good success with Ty one on one with a LBer in the flat.

Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.

dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.

beast (27-Apr) : Thank goodness he's not leaving the Turtle in the Red Tide
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Cowboys 1st round pick Tyler Booker will indeed be bringing his pet turtle to Dallas with him
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : that contained all prospects info and contact
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : beast, according the Falcons statement Jax came across it on an ipad. If I had to guess, probably an open spread sheet or something
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : Simmons put up an emoji with cheese.
beast (27-Apr) : Not sure anyone is interested in Isaiah Simmons... Collin Oliver might of taken his potential slot
