PFWT , an above average Secondary that can cover Receivers gives DE's / OL's / LB's more time to attack QB's . GB and it's future HOF QB can't afford to wait on training players that we hope will reach the potential they were expected to achieve . Any chain is only as strong as it's weakest link , the DB's are currently GB's weak links .

Even a 1st round CB isn't going to make this defense better this year. For that to happen, the two high draft picks we have at the position NOW need to step backup, and we need to develop a pass rush along with them. A player with similar impact that Raji had as a rookie on the line rushing next to Daniels will pay bigger dividends than another DB trying to run with WR for 7 seconds.

I do agree that GB needs an effective pass rush, CB's that can cover is not a luxury , but a necessity in today's NFL. Mobile QBs, Effective OLs, Slippery Fast WRs, clearly show the critical need for CBs that can cover.

DEs /LBs / OL that can't pressure a QB after even 4 seconds need to go set on the bench. GB has plug/play monsters to rush QBs with. It takes skill to defend NFL WRs .

But, if you give any QB time to throw it to whomever they want when they want, you will get picked a part. A bad front seven is going to make a Nick Foles look like Joe freaking Montana! lol

Back on topic, the biggest bust in Packer draft history, was not drafting ME.

The value of a dependable short yardage punter can't be overlooked.

Apparently some believe that a draft failure not only applies to players that GB picked in past drafts, but also the failure to pick a player / players that went on to NFL success . Example: Barry Sanders .

Yes, lots of players get selected by other teams following GB's Draft Picks. Yes, hindsight is 20-20 and regrets are only natural. I personally wanted GB to pick Barnardrick McKinney , but he is now a starting LB in Houston.

And then they took this guy who ESPN said was somewhat undersized and slow named WR Greg Jennings. After a few games, I realized I was very foolish to let ESPN tug my emotions even in the slightest lol.

I suppose that doesn't apply to this topic because that was more my failure than the Packers, lol.

I think a big failure was sweaty tiny hand QB Brian Brohm in the 2nd round, same draft and round we landed Jordy Nelson.

Biggest Player Bust- Mandarich based on the hype. The one player who was supposed to be all that and more and tuned out to be none of it and even less.

Worst draft mistake. You might also call this the stupidest draft pick.- IMO Clark, he told them he wouldn't play for them and they took him anyway. Drafting Mandarich was only a mistake in hindsight as 9 out of 10 GMs probably would have drafted him. I can't really count not picking Sanders as a mistake as the player they took (Mandarich) was probably the player to take at the time.

Biggest draft failure- That may encompass all factors and the Mandarich over Sanders pick fits in here. It takes the biggest bust and the fact they missed out on a superstar puts them together into one big failed draft pick. Also the fact that they turned Clark into a 1st round pick a couple of years later mitigates that.

After re thinking my original statement in this thread I would have to say that drafting Mandarich instead of Sanders (or any number of stars that were picked after him) would be my biggest draft failure which was what the OP asked but as I said it take into consideration not ony the player chosen but those missed out on as well. I stand by Clark as the single biggest draft mistake. I know its semantics but I can see a difference. If you don't want to nitpick that's OK too.

sschind , IMO your post are as valuable as any other members post. I enjoy reading diverse opinions that don't always follow the politically correct line. What I don't care for are personal attacks on others that serve no good purpose , Of that I don't recall you being accused . Arguing a position or against anothers position is this forums mission .

So I salute you and your post sschind . [thumbup]
