All throughout this pre season I've read over and over the goal was to go into regular season HEALTHY. Clearly, this is what Mike McCarthy set out to accomplish and he certainly did. TWENTY guys didn't suit up tonight. However ONE of our starters to be did...Jared Cook.
WHY WHY WHY WHY? Working on timing between him and Joe Callahan? This was one of the singular most illogical things from this entire off-season and pre season. Totally inconsistent with the mindset of keeping your importants uninjured. Richard Rodgers didn't play. He's more important than Jared Cook? Incredible.
Seriously seeking a Barfarn styled conspiracy theory to make half sense of this confounding logic that said...Hey, let's play Jared Cook throughout the 1st half and try to get him a TD catch.
Mike McCarthy should be stuck to the wall on this issue. So tired of he's a great coach and knows what he's doing kind of crap. That move was purely idiotic and should be labeled and called out by our milquetoast media.
For goodness sake, for those who didn't see his TD catch, he was pulled down awkwardly in what easily could've been an ACL tearing injury. All to do what? What was the goal? To see if you wanted him as your #1 over the painful to watch Richard Rodgers? I don't get it. Someone PLEASE make sense of this for me.
Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
