I think this is a very good article with a number of good points, including that the NFL investigations have been proven wrong before... and they usually they have "plenty of gray area"s. And there is this...

The NFL has already determined that Sly was not a credible source and that the Al Jazeera report had information that was false/not supported by the NFL's own investigation when the NFL cleared Manning of the allegations in the report.

Once the NFL said that the source/report falsely accused Manning, I don't see how they can then say the source/report is credible to investigate the other four players without having additional evidence implicating those other players.

Not sure what NFL report your speaking of Macbob. The NFL statement was posted on twitter on Huffington post saying only that they found no credible evidence to show Manning took HGH. Sly only said the HGH was sent to Ashley in Florida and there have been no denials on this. Plus, Peyton and the head of Guyer institute said Ashley's privacy was violated; well, if Sly made up the story no one's medical privacy is violated. There is little doubt that Guyer sent HGH to Ashley just as Sly said. But, they need evidence to show Ashley gave it to Peyton or maybe that she didn't have a use for it. Surely Ashley demonstrated why they sent it to her and both said Peyton didn't get none. Case closed! Full cooperation-no proof and nothing more to investigate.

Manning cooperated; there is a bold statement at top of NFL statement saying so. It is so awkward-This I the NFL sending a message that says; cooperate you union jagwads and this can all go away; unless you dont have the correct answers to our questions.

The league also knows that Sly knows Keller and Neal, both of who were suspended for banned substances.

The NFL statement states that the investigation will continue against the others, so surely they did not find Sly's words as lacking all truth and we dont know what other info they got. Heck, the league may have statements from Keller and/or Neal saying that Sly was the guy they got their stuff from. There's WAY too much truth and credible stuff in Sly's ramblings. But, the investigation must determine if the stuff about Peppers, Neal and "half the Packers team" meeting with Sly to get some goodies was BS or has truth. I have a very bad nothing but gut feeling some that some Packer communicated with Sly. Heck, the investigation might be about Neal peddling HGH for Sly as well as whether other Packers partook. Pepp and CM3 might trying to protect Neal. If Neal did indeed recruit or tried to recruit for Sly to dispense undetectable drugs, I see a nasty suspension coming for him, maybe even a lifetime ban.

NFL Statement

Oh, the ESPN article is a classic slippery-slope taken to ridiculous lengths. It is not the allegation that gets the attention; it is the surrounding corroborated facts that gives the allegation weight that gets the attention requiring an investigation.

The thing with the NFL though is they might say they just want to do a quick little interview but if they have an agenda with it they are going to follow that agenda regardless of what they have for evidence or what is said in interviews.

I say stand your ground. Do their damn interview, but don't give up anything or anyone . With all their resources the NFL is resorting to "gestapo" tactics , I say spit in their eye .

Here's what I think. The NFL loves its stars, and will do their best to look the other way if shit starts getting stirred up with any of them. BUT if you let a story come out about what you've done or are doing then you will have made the mighty NFL look foolish, and they'll come at you with everything they've got.

“It’s kind of as simple as pie: We’re going to support our players, we’ve always supported our players and we will continue to support our players. This is no different in this case. I will have nothing further to say on this matter. Everybody in the world’s going to be talking about it, but I’m not going to have anything to say about 🇮🇹, the Packers will not have anything to say about it until it gets resolved. You can in the meantime direct your questions to the NFL or the NFLPA.”

It does sound like a management/union power play though.

Before the league sent the letter threatening suspensions, PFT reported Matthews and Peppers were being put under some pressure to cooperate with the league and submit to interviews. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that the Steelers wouldn’t push Harrison in that direction despite the potential loss of a defensive contributor.

As an OWNER, I might file a restraining order against Goodell. Who's with me?

That's what I'm worried about. Even if none of these guys are guilty of anything the NFL wants them to be which is all that matters.

This is a common fallacy that police use to get people into their interrogation rooms. When these same police get in trouble though they say maybe 2 words before they are on the phone with their union lawyer (who does the talking for them), because deep down they know what everyone else knows: You gain nothing talking to the authorities, you can only hurt yourself.

So while I understand the league needs to talk to these players to keep up the illusion that they're concerned about PEDs, I think the NFLPA is doing exactly what they should be doing for their players. Protecting them against frivolous claims that could establish a new scarier precedent.

This kind of thing is actually making me lose some interesting in the NFL game. The PSI: New England thing took a toll on me as well.
